Sunday Matters: A Birthday & Busy Kids

Sunday Matters

It was The Hub’s birthday yesterday. We had a full day of JV finals (track) and The Teen had his SAT test so we couldn’t celebrate the way we wanted to, but it was still a nice day. We had super weather and enjoyed a yummy lunch. I think he was happy.  LOOK at that food! I didn’t even capture the meat on that platter!

As for the track meet, The Girl got a medal for relay but she didn’t want to stay for the 100m results. We’ll find out the results later. That’s it! The season is over. I’m a little sad about it. The team party is later this month. Should be fun.

Right Now:

What would I do without my Sunday coffee? I drink coffee all the time but there is something special about that first cup on Sunday morning. Don’t you agree?

In a little bit, we will go to church and then later I get to go back to interview/discuss the volunteer position. In between, there will be a few hours to take care of stuff around the house.

This Week:

No more track practice so the evenings should be a little calmer. Well, except for The Teen. It’s production week for him so one more crazy week & weekend and then he can take a breather. I have some news in regards to his performance but he said I cannot talk about it yet!

Reading:

I finished The Children’s Crusade. My review posts on Tuesday. Reading Waiting for Snow in Havana for book club this Thursday. I need to pick up the pace. I am really behind with that one.

Watching:

Got to catch-up with Bates Motel. I missed it last Monday. Still enjoying Mad Men. We picked up The Empire Strikes Back for The Girl but never got to watch it.

Making:

I am trying to make better choices with food but I am not doing so well and I just started. I think today we will do something simple but not sure what. Maybe a chicken stir-fry.

Grateful for:

Guess what? The Girl made choir! I was so very happy to get that email. She is thrilled. I am grateful that she was chosen. I think it’s so important for kids entering middle school to be a part of something early on.

That’s it for me. What’s going on in your world today?

  1. A belated congratulations to The Girl and a belated happy birthday to The Hub! So please tell me that you did get a picture of the meat? 🙂 What’s the volunteer position at the church? I know you’ve probably mentioned it before, but I’m too lazy to go back and reread. Again 🙂 I’m just all smiles today. How can I not be? It’s a beautiful day here, sun is shining, and we’re going to see the new Avengers movie tonight. Look forward to hearing the news from The Teen about his performance.

    1. The Teen saw the new Avengers movie. He said it was great.

I did not get a pic of the meat side! They fell upon it like zombies and would not wait for a second photo but it was on the other half of that platter.

The volunteer position is in the middle school ministry called Wired. Possibly a small group leader or a New Member leader.

So glad you are all smiles today. I am moving slowly today but getting there.

  2. Wow, what a feast! Happy B-day to your husband, congrats to The Girl, and I’ll look forward to The Teen’s news. I need to pick up the pace on my book club selection, too!

  3. Congrats to the Girl! And, sweet angels is Heaven, that’s a lot of food!!! Looking very yummy too 🙂

  4. Yay for your new Choir member! Always lots going on with you. That birthday meal looks awesome. Can’t wait to hear the news about your teen. Have a good week!

  5. Even with that busy weekend, your post is so full of good news!! Congrats to the girl for the relay and the choir – that’s wonderful! So glad for her. I can only imagine that the Teen got some great news regarding his performance – waiting to hear all about it! Also, happy belated birthday to your husband. Hope you have a great next week!

  6. I remember spending so much time at sporting events for our children when they were young. It was so fun to see them compete and to make friends with other parents, but it was exhausting, too.

    Have a great week, Ti!

  7. I think that Sunday cup is so good because you can really relax and enjoy it – well, as much as you are ever able to slow down and relax!

  8. Good news for everyone! We spent two hours driving to a Farmers Market only to see that it was so crowded we turned around and drove back. While doing this Den’s headrest in our car literally exploded…apparently the device inside was faulty…it was so weird…but we did stop for lunch at a really cool Mexican food restaurant…and had awesome margaritas! What a day!

    1. The headrest exploded? Sounds like a recall to me.

  9. That is a TON of food! It looks like he had a happy birthday. I forced myself to run today and just now grilled our supper. I love warm weather!

    1. What’s funny… is that most of that food got eaten. No joke. The Girl just finished her JV track meet, the hub had not eaten all day long and The Teen had just finished his 4 hour SAT test. They fell on that platter like hungry dogs! We did bring some of it home but most got eaten!

    1. Hi there! Yes, it was a really nice weekend and I am in a really good mood this morning! A first! With it being Monday and all.

    1. I hope you mean funky GOOD! It is quite different from what I had before but what I had before was also so freakin’ old. I didn’t notice how dated it was until I looked at other themes.

  10. Wow on all that food! It looks so yummy. A belated happy birthday to the hubs and congrats to The Girl. Looking forward to The Teen’s news. You guys are always so busy! As for that coffee it’s like heaven every morning. The other day our power went out for a bit and all I could think about was that I hoped the coffee had finished perking before it went off. Lol.

I love the new blog design. So clean and nice. I’d love to make some changes to mine but I’m not so talented at it. I can’t even figure out how to do the backup. Lol. Anyhow it looks great. Enjoy your week Ti!

  11. I love the new blog design! And a belated happy birthday to your husband. I am SO glad The Girl made choir!!! And I really want to hear The Teen’s news! I’m going to be making up all sorts of things in my mind until I hear it from you – you know that, right? How did the interview/discussion go? I know it’s more on your plate but it did sound like something you wanted to do.

    1. The interview/discussion went well. It was a lot more informal than I expected it to be. Nice people. I got to stay for the session and shadow the small group leaders. I enjoyed it. Next week they break for Mother’s Day but then when I come back, I will be shadowing some of the production folks. Trying to see where I can best serve.

  12. Congrats on her making the choir! I know you’re happy about that and she must be over the moon. That Famous Dave’s knows how to plate it up, don’t they!

  13. Sorry that track is over for the Girl, looks sort of fun. But on to Choir! Enjoy your week.
