It’s raining! Yay! I love it when it rains. It’s the only time that I can really hang around the house and relax. If the sun is out, then so are my kids and we end up wasting the weekend running back and forth between stuff. I really need to relax too as the week was a busy one and next week will be just as busy.
First off, an update on the play. Both, the Boy and Girl got parts in the show! Not the parts they tried out for but comparable parts. They are both happy and so am I. They just had a costume fitting and it’s all very exciting. If you are familiar with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat the Boy is one of the brothers and will be singing One More Angel in Heaven (video from the film with Donny Osmond). The Girl is in a dance number. She is the Sun!
This past week, we attended Open House at the high school. They had an orientation for incoming students and when they said, “Please welcome the class of 2016” I just about passed out. Good lord! Where has the time gone! The Boy is going out for basketball and ASB (associated student body) so he plans to be busy. Of course, basketball camp conflicts with the show he is in PLUS any hopes of us taking a summer vacation so we won’t be going anywhere this summer. I am very excited for him. High school was such a fun time for me. I hope it is for him too. Somehow, we will work around the camp conflicts.
I am slowly catching up with my review writing, but I continue to be a reading fool so pretty soon, I am going to be behind again. I’m not sure how I got so far ahead of myself but I like it. I am finishing three more books today. After the three, I will be picking up We Need to Talk About Kevin and Arcadia.
Last night, the Girl and I had a movie night and watched Hugo. What a great movie! I haven’t read the book but she is doing that today. The movie was lovely. Just lovely and gorgeously rendered. I am going to make The Hub watch it today if I can tear him away from sports for a couple of hours. Speaking of movies, I haven’t seen The Hunger Games yet. I am going to wait until the hype dies down a bit.
Well, the rain is coming down outside, the house is clean and I’ve got nothing to do but read my books. A perfect afternoon if I do say so myself! Next week, open houses at both schools (on the same night!), and more rehearsals. Happy Sunday!

Oh happy day…I love days like this and I am so happy for you…plus you must have something good cooking, too!!!
We are doing oven rosted baby backed ribs and homemade baked beans…love Sundays….
I’ve got no food! We will be doing leftovers.
You should totally read Hugo…it takes only a couple of hours and is just as charming (maybe even more) than the movie. We just went through this whole open house/sign up for classes for high school and I am equally freaked out. And we will be seriously constricted as far as summer vacations, but will be even worse when my son enters in two years and is in football. I warned my family that they may have to come to us at that point.
My review writing is always behind. I can never catch up. I think I have whittled it down to three or four left to write, but then I go on a spree and get behind again. I just never have the time to sit and get it down, between reading blogs and reading books and doing my stuff.
You know it’s bad when you find out that you totally forgot about three books you read. Yep, forgot about ’em because I never added them to Goodreads.
Congrats on your child stars! Good thing you’re so close to Hollywood! LOL
I haven’t even mentioned the modeling offers the Girl has gotten. But even that would be work for ME. Driving her all over heck. Nope.
Nice to have everything done and to read a book while it’s raining. Enjoy the evening! We plan to see the Hunger Games later on too.
It just started raining again here. I’m hoping it rains all night but it’ll probably be over soon, which is too bad, because I love falling asleep to the sound of rain.
Congrats (I think) on the play parts! You were so exhausted after the last play that I’m sure it is a mixed blessing in a way. High school, huh? That will freak any mom out!
And I’m planning on ditching housework on Thursday and going to a matinee (there is a 10:00 am showing so I can make it back before the school bus) of The Hunger Games. So excited! The buzz is so good for it.
Your day sounds absolutely lovely, indeed!! I just got home from spending the weekend with my folks and my oldest son and his wife. Now I’m doing laundry and trying to get caught up! Good for both of your kiddos for the play…it’s always a ton of fun. Mine will be trying out the the play next week at school. He took off from the last one because he was just wore out from football. I hear you about not being able to believe how fast time has flown. My youngest will graduate next year! How is that possible!!?????

I hear you on waiting until the hype dies down to see The Hunger Games. It reminds me of The Titanic years ago. Every night people lined up to see it. I waited for months until I could see it without getting trampled.
I really don’t enjoy the crowds. If I actually see it in a theater then I may see it in Palm Springs when we go next week because it’s basically a retirement community. Teeny Boppers shouldn’t be a problem there.
I love rainy days too and we just haven’t gotten enough of them this winter! We got the rain yesterday and it was delightful. Enjoy!

Our forecast called for rain all weekend but we didn’t see one drop. This let us get a lot done around the house. My husband has been home for two weeks, it’s been nice to have him home.

Oh no, you HAVE to watch the movie right away! And join us in jumping and hollering in excitement! Just kidding! Though the movie was really worth the pre-release hype.

Saw Hugo in the theaters and loved it. Though I saw it in 3D and I think it took away from the movie (I think I’m in the minority on that thought). I’m going to have to own this one. I loved the whole movie making story line. And yay for rain we had it too and it’s still raining this morning.
I love it when the house is clean and it is raining. Then I can just lounge on my bed and read away. It sounds like the kids have exciting years ahead of them, and I bet that you are so thrilled/nervous for them. I know they will be just fine though! The play sounds very exciting!
I realize it is a bit far, but could you send some of that rain to Massachusetts? I am so tired to dragging the hose around to water our 15 new trees.

Our bookclub will be discussing the Kevin book on Wednesday. I didn’t reread it but reviewed all the posts where I mention it – like, about 5! that was 2007 when I had very very few readers so I really was talking to myself. ha.
OMG, it rained all freakin’ day! By 7pm I would have been more than happy to send you some of my rain. Kevin… I am starting it this weekend. Why I chose Spring Break to do it, I’ve no idea! Bad planning on my part!

I haven’t read ‘Kevin’, but have seen the movie. Very disturbing, almost like a horror film. From the comments that I got, people are telling me the book describes much deeper the psyche of the mother. So, hopefully you’ll enjoy the read. I agree with you about Hugo, it’s mesmerizing. I’m not a fan of 3D movies, but this one is definitely an exception.
I haven’t seen the movie either but the trailer looked intense. Not sure I could sit through an entire movie if the whole thing is as intense as that trailer!
I have seen the movie and written a review on it. The book I have not read. But from the comments I got, the book seems to be able to go deeper than the movie, although there are also those who like the film.
I remember your review. Some of what you said still haunts me. I have a friend who has three boys and one of them is “off” but the mom refuses to see it. Well, she sees it because she keeps asking us if things sound normal but when we say no, she doesn’t seem to want to admit that things are off. I don’t think this kid is to the point that Kevin is in the book, but things are definitely off. If I were the mom, I would be concerned and yes, I would find help. This mom is worried about her kid being branded. I went way off topic but I do think there are signs if you choose to pay attention to them.
I liked Hugo too which I reviewed on my site. The brass automaton especially captivated me; apparently such remarkable old machines really did exist in history, check out the YouTube video!
Not to worry about the crowds for Hunger Games; it all went very orderly and hews closely to the book, a pretty good adaptation!
Congrats to the kids on their parts in the play! That’s awesome for them! Wow on The Boy already looking forward to graduating in a few years. The time will likely fly by. I can remember when we first started blogging and they were both so young.
You know I’ve been doing good on the reading front too and am staying ahead on review copies. It’s nice for once. It’s probably been because my hands have been too sore for commenting on blogs so I’m reading instead. I’m looking forward to starting Empress of the Seven Hills by Kate Quinn today. I read one of hers and it was so good. I imagine this one will be too.

I’m so sorry your hands have been giving you problems. Do you have a smartphone? I sometimes use the voice feature to comment on blogs. It’s pretty accurate ( Android based) and it’s good to use once in awhile.
