More About Me

I’ve done two of these so far but I promised Melody so humor me if you will, by reading more about me. Okay? Oh, and be sure to stop by Melody’s blog so you can see the questions she answered.

Here’s what she asked:

Who is your idol? It can be anyone and doesn’t have to be a celebrity or a public figure.

Um…a certain runner, writer, Japanese guy named Haruki Murakami. One day, he decided to write a novel and he had no idea that he would have the followers that he does today… or this weird, stalker girl named Ti, following him all over Facebook. Notice how I called myself a girl. I kill myself sometimes.

If you could be someone famous, who would you be?

I don’t think I would model myself after anyone out there now, but I would be a famous writer.

What are your favorite TV shows or movies?

I love The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, The Wonder Years and I hate to say it… sometimes I watch Roseanne. I know! You thought so much more of me. I am beginning to watch Downton, too. I have watched a couple of episodes and it’s really good. As for movies, I have several that I watch over and over again, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink (see a theme here?), Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Tootsie, Arthur (the original), The Goodbye Girl (original), Some Like it Hot, When Harry Met Sally, Jaws…and the list goes on.

Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? Why?

HP. I never got into the Rings. Never.

Popcorn: Sweet or Salty? Why?

Salty. I do not like sweets too much although since I have gone gluten-free, I crave sweets more than I used to.

Facebook or Twitter? Why?

Facebook. I feel as if I have real conversations there and that I am not just screaming into a room with a lot of people talking over me.

What are your pet peeves?

One big one is when people continue to use their phones at the movies once the movie has begun. This is such an issue with me, that I no longer go to the movies. Put your damn phone away or stay home!

Where do you like to go for vacation?

In my mind, I like beach vacations but when I actually get there, I get irritated with sand and it being everywhere. So I think the ideal place to vacation is a fun city, close to the beach so I can gaze at it from afar, and then do super fun things all day long.

What are the most wonderful memories that you had last year?

Oh, too many to list, but they are all simple things like my daughter helping me make pancakes or learning how to make scrambled eggs. My son growing as a basketball player and becoming a more aggressive player with every season. Stuff like that.

What’s your favorite holiday?

Thanksgiving. Sad, but I like the food part. Oh, and the togetherness.

Would you read a book that’s received lots of hype and positive reviews, even though the story line isn’t what you like to read?

Yes, I would. Yes, I have.

Thanks, Melody!

    1. SF is a great city to visit. It all the three things that I need for a vacay…water, food and bookstores. LOL. Our Spring Break is not until April 2nd and we are hitting Palm Desert…the water will be in the pool. LOL.

  1. Oh my gosh! I love “The Goodbye Girl”! One of my favorite movies! I’ve seen it over and over. Also love – The Breakfast Club (who doesn’t?) and Tootsie and When Harry met Sally!

I love the beach! I would go to the beach any day! It is my dream to live on the beach. I used to live in Savannah GA only minutes from the beach and loved every second of living there!

And I too love Thanksgiving (Christmas is my fav, but LOVE Thanksgiving!).

Great post. It was fun getting to know you better. We have a bit in common.

    1. That scene where Dreyfuss calls from the telephone booth? Makes my heart sing! The remake with Jeff Daniels was pretty good, but not nearly as good as the original.

    1. That first one probably wasn’t a huge surprise. Jill (Rhapsody) gives me grief though because I also stalked Nesbo for a good chunk of time She thinks I’m fickle. LOL.

  2. Don’t let Jill give you a hard time I switch my author stalkees all the time. I should keep a list so I know who (or is is whom) I’m stalking at any given moment. Great questions and answers. I may have to add them when I re-do my about me page.

  3. My favorite is Thanksgiving too, partly because of the food, but also because there is no gift-giving obligation. Call me a grinch, but I’d much rather enjoy the company of others than worry about presents (and whether anyone is actually going to like what I got them). I agree about beach vacations too – some of my favorite vacations have been to cities (DC & London).

  4. I am totally in love with Downton Abbey, and have watched the entire first season in a matter of days. I just ordered the second season, and can’t wait to get started with it. I loved your answers today, Ti! I learned so much about you!

  5. Of all the people you can stalk I think it’s great you are stalking Murakami! I’m not much of a beach person. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I loved that you stalk Murakami! And what books have you read and liked that received a negative review?

  7. I’ve read the two memoirs that won first and second in that category. I;m also excited that Please Look After Mom won the Man Asia Literary Prize, a first for a South Korean female author!

The others on the Indie list are on my TBR wish list!

  8. I’m glad you answered more questions…I guessd about Murakami! We have very similar taste in movies we like to watch over and over. The cell phone thing bothers me at the movies too but other places, as well, like on line at the bank or a store and one person makes it impossible for everyone else to not listen to their conversation. Your wonderful memories are great :o)

  9. I really must read Murakami to see what all this fuss is about. 🙂 One of my husband’s favorite movies is When Harry Met Sally. And I think Tootsie was one of the first movies I ever saw in a movie theater. It’s a good one.

Movies and phones – I thought talking on a cell phone during a movie was bad; so is texting. Seeing that backlight is annoying! Ugh.

    1. Yay!! I knew there were others like me! I manage to work Seinfeld lines into my daily conversation. Sometimes people get it, most of the time they don’t!

  10. I do like to read at the beach, but prefer looking at the water to going swimming. My pet peeve at work, though, is library books that get returned with sand inside the plastic covers.

    1. The old “sand between the covers” peeve. LOL. I don’t think I’ve ever taken a library book to the beach. With my luck, high tide would sweep it away!
