The Sunday Salon: Most Horrible Party Photo EVER

Sunday Salon

Last week I attended a retirement party for a very close friend. Great party, but man…such horrible photos of me. After viewing them, there must have been about five horrid ones and one where I looked somewhat human. Just to prove that I can laugh at myself, I will share one of those horrid photos with you.

Most Horrible Photo

What exactly am I thinking about here? GAH! So horrible. Enough to give me a complex. I felt a little bit better when the market clerk “carded” me yesterday. I get carded sometimes by young men, who don’t know any better, but this was a forty-something woman who carded me. That made me feel a little bit better but just a little bit.

Today, I am making pasta sauce and not much else. Maybe some reading. I just finished The Language of Flowers and for whatever reason, I don’t feel like launching into a new book. But a little warning sound is going off in my head because usually, if I do not begin another book right away, I hit a rut. We’ll see how that plays out.

Hope you are all done with your shopping and that your Sunday and a nice and easy one.

  1. I seem to always take really bad photos as well, and then I run around with them asking my husband “do I really look like that?” it’s kind of funny, actually. I just started The Language of Flowers last night as well, and it’s a really engrossing book. So sad though. I hope that you have a wonderful week ahead, and that you get all your Christmas chores done in time for the holiday!

  2. I think we all have several like that Ti, so don’t feel bad.

I hate having my photo taken and last month we had professional ones taken at work for our “behind the portal – college page”. I actually found a couple in the bunch where my turkey neck wasn’t noticeable.

    1. I don’t even have a turkey neck but somehow a photo of me ended up on my University’s IT page and it does look like I have one there. Shot from below…ugh.

  3. Oooh, That is bad. You weren’t kidding. πŸ˜‰

Hey, like Diane said, we all have several like that. My sister is a photographer and she takes hundreds (thousands) of photos at family functions. Believe me, there are some ones I’d like to burn — not to a CD either. πŸ™‚

‘Tis the season for ruts…don’t feel bad if you don’t get to another book right away.

  4. I really want to give you a hug, because my life is one big unfavorable photo after another. Good Lord, do I have that stuff hanging under my chin? Are my arms that big? I delete 95% of ones taken. My mom said “you are the way you are so embrace it” but I disagree. I love your good attitude by showing us the picture though. YOu know I would have asked πŸ™‚

    1. There was no way to talk about it without sharing the photo. I do much better with posed photos. These candid shots always do me wrong in some way.

  5. I hate having my picture taken for that reason alone…you’re a brave soul my dear πŸ˜€

My Sunday has been busy with priming walls, gutting our bathroom, laundy, and trying to catch up on the web.

    Have a great day!

  6. So funny! You are a brave soul. I am one of the most non-photogenic people in the world so I have MANY photos like this one. Don’t feel bad and I admire your embracing it!! And getting carded would definitely make my day. πŸ™‚

  7. LOL, well it’s not so bad. It’s not like you were trying to smile and look good for the picture! I had a moment like that recently. I specifically remember the conversation I was having and why I look the way I do in the picture, but it was the worst time ever to have a candid taken of me!!

    1. This guy takes really good pics, but was trying to be funny, shooting stuff without people knowing. Well, apparently, I need some warning beforehand.

  8. You are my hero! I am not photogenic at all, but it takes real guts and a great sense of humor to post it for all to see. Your hair has gotten so long! It’s the holidays, so don’t worry there’s precious little time to read now anyway!

    Enjoy the holidays!

  9. It does NOT look like you! And I agree you are beyond courageous for putting it up, but we all know you don’t look like that! I take pretty bad pictures, and so years will go by with just pictures of Jim and none of me!

    1. The food was actually good. I think I was talking or something. All of the pics from that night caught me like that, except for one. In the others, I was drinking…which somehow looked worse.

  10. People shouldn’t take photos of people eating! I’m not photogenic so there are so many bad photos of me floating around. I try to stay out of the way. πŸ™‚

I hope you get to enjoy this week, will you stay home for Christmas?

    1. I am off from work now and after a quick trip to Target, totally done with my shopping. We are home for the holidays but will be hitting Disneyland on Thursday. Yay!

  11. Bad photos happen to the best of us πŸ™‚ That’s why I hardly ever appear in any photos – I always come out looking worse for wear – LOL! Thanks for being brave to share this photo with us – you rock!

  12. You actually sent me laughing. I am usually so embarrassed by my failed photos (of which I have many) that I just straight away delete them. I hate getting my pictures taken, because they rarely come out good. It’s like my face decides it’s not worth memorializing itself!

  13. I thought this post was hilarious. We’ve all been in your spot. I swear some camera bugs take secret pleasure in catching us this way. Oh well, as my mother always used to say, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

  14. I tend to be unphotogenic and have a lot of photos like that of me (including the team track photo in high school – my awkwardness immortalized in the yearbook, which I just looked at yesterday so that’s why it comes to mind).
