List Love: Christmas

The other day, The Hub told me that he bought me something. Something that was unsolicited by me. This has only happened a handful of times and the results (in most cases) were hilarious. I’m sure they weren’t supposed to be and I can count a couple of instances where I pitched a Christmas meal into the trash because of the frustration over said gift or the quippy response that came with it. So when he said he bought me something, I paused and said, “Hmmmm.”

The next day… he said he bought it from a traveling salesman.

Double, “Hmmmm.”

Remember that I Love Lucy episode where the guy came to the door selling all that Handy Dandy stuff? I cannot help but think of that episode. What WILL I end up with? The thing is, my needs are few and my wants are simple. I am not a hard person to buy for. I enjoy simple things, meaningful items and gadgets. So just for fun, I am listing stuff here that I wouldn’t mind getting.

  • A Nook Simple Touch ( I have a Kindle, which I love but I do not love Amazon)
  • The new Michael Bublé Christmas CD  (Michael Bublé Christmas)
  • A new Tourmaline hair dryer. Mine is dying and bad hair makes me unhappy.
  • Dreamer PJ’s from Victoria’s Secret. I spend so much time in PJ’s, might as well have another set.
  • A big, giant vat of my fave lotion.
  • Some new bookmarks.
  • A really nice pair of scissors. My kids take mine and cut bacon (yep!) with them and other damaging materials like glue tubes and Popsicle sticks.
  • This very cool calendar.
  • This awesome lens for my camera.
  • A Spotify upgrade to Premium so I can take my music with me.
  • Some sparkly hair clips.
  • A copy of A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami
  • Any of these movies on DVD: The Family Stone (so great!), It’s a Wonderful Life (lost my copy), Serendipity (John Cusack…sigh)

See? Not so bad, right? Of course, material items aside, good health is always a welcome gift but I don’t believe door-to-door salesmen have figured out a way to sell it.

So, what do you think The Hub got me? Knives? A blender? Tupperware? He doesn’t read my blog so you can have fun with it.

    1. Haha! They still sell meat out out trucks. Maybe he bought me a standing rib roast. You know, to cook up like Norma Arnold from The Wonder Years.

  1. I love your list…you would be easy and fun to buy for…I could live in jammies…my new faves are VS thermal yoga pants and one of their sleep shirts over it…

Comfy and stretchy…good for your stay in and eat days…lol…

  2. Traveling salesman – now I’m envisioning you unwrapping a set of Encylopedia Britannica!

I give my husband a very specific book list every year, and I even check to see which stores have the books in stock 🙂

  3. I can’t wait to hear what your gift is!! My husband tries so hard some years and others he just has this look that says “I’m at a loss”. Either way, I’m ok, haha.

  4. LOL…first of all, I didn’t think “Traveling salesmen” still existed, so maybe he is teasing. If you didn’t say traveling saleman, I would have guess ridiculous PAJAMA JEANS from that infomercial, since you love being in PJS….LOL

  5. I love John Cusack in Serendipity, too. When the elevator door closes and when he’s lying on the ice rink…*sigh* I would think a “traveling salesman” (I didn’t even think they were around anymore) hints at a household gadget. You’ll have to let us know what you got 🙂

    1. The scene of him lying in that ice rink is so classic. It’s burned into my memory. I will post an update on the gift once the cat is out of the bag.

    1. I never got into Glee. I know I would have liked it had I been able to watch it when it was on but I always seemed to miss it. The only episode I watched was the Britney Spears one and that one rocked!

  6. I really really doubt anything on your list was sold by the door to door salesman! I am so excited to find out what it is … I suspect maybe you will be getting your carpets cleaned?

    1. That is one I have not considered. It could very well be something like this. He works in an industrial park with all sorts of businesses like that.

  7. I am so happy to hear you would love a Nook Simple Touch. I have one and love it to death. Mind you, I don’t read everything on it and would never give up books, but it is awesome. And we do not like Amazon. Need to support the brick and mortar stores:)

  8. I love Serendipity! I have it here somewhere and it’s just one of the most beautiful movies ever 🙂 I can’t wait to hear what your husband bought you. 🙂

  9. My husband doesn’t read my blog either 🙂

I have had this post sitting open on my laptop for two days… yikes!

About this wish list… all good ideas. I also need a new hair dryer, will look at the one on your list.

If we are dreaming/wishing… I hope he bought you diamonds!

  10. Love your list…maybe you’ll get the I Love Lucy DVD set?! Love her shows and humor…can’t beat that. I am going to check out the jammies…I need to find comfy cozy ones. Fleece just isn’t cutting it except they are warm in winter. You must reveal what you got from hubby after Christmas!
