Happy Sunday to you. My week has been wrought with challenges. My work was gracious enough to provide me with a beautiful MacBook a few years ago. I love my MacBook. A lot. However, this week they had me upgrade the operating system so that I could document a process for the folks here on campus. It did not go well.
My computer imploded.
I’m not sure what happened, but it’s FRIED. I sent it off to the repair facility. I hope they can get it back to me quickly or better yet replace the darn thing but the budget is tight here in the state of California so if it’s toast, my posting may be too.
Honestly though, I really need to get my own but with furloughs and all, money has been tight. It’s hard to justify an expensive piece of equipment like that. Needless to say, I have to do most of my posting at work, or from my phone and that’s just not feasible for my poor eyesight. Tiny screen + bad eyes = migraine.
I did manage to post three reviews through all of these issues: Catching Fire (fun book), What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us (loved it) and The Weight of Heaven (loved it).
I plan to spend the entire day reading. What’s on deck, you ask?
- If You Follow Me by Malena Watrous
- A Week in December by Sebastian Faulks
- Beatrice and Virgin by Yann Martel
- The Boy In The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
- The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson (although I promised someone I would read this with him and he’ll kick my butt if I open it before he gets his copy. Although I did read the first page. Shhhh. Don’t tell.)
How are you spending your day?
How awful about your mac book! I hope they decide since it was their fault your computer imploded that they should replace it! I’ll be thinking lots of good luck thoughts for you!
I really need to read the second Stieg Larssen book. I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Oh, how frustrating! I can’t imagine trying to type up a post from a phone, so I don’t blame you on that one!
Sorry to hear about your computer troubles. They can be such glorious machines that do so much, but also give so much frustration at the same time. I hope that yours gets fixed soon. In the meantime, you can just enjoy reading without worrying about blogging.
Catching Fire is one of my favorite reads of last year, I am happy to hear that you liked it. I can’t wait for the third book in the series to come out. I just finished reading The Maze Runner, another YA book similar to the Hunger Games. It is worth checking out.
The Boy in Stripped pajamas is an excellent book. Have you read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak? It is a nice companion to The Boy in Stripped Pajamas. They are both interesting perspectives on WWII.
Enjoy your reading day!
I have my fingers crossed that your Mac will come back to you safe and sound. There’s no way I’d blog if my phone were the only way for me to do it!
sorry to hear about your computer problems –awful to be puter-less?? Myspacebarissticking canyoutell?LOL
Oh man. When my computer implodes, my world implodes, as pathetic as that sounds. I very quickly slip into a total funk. You might consider a Netbook. I think my husband bought mine for $350, and it is fabulous. I don’t have all of my applications loaded on it (those are on my desktop). I just have Microsoft applications, and some pictures. I almost never use my desktop anymore.
I am going to wait and see what happens with my laptop and then make a decision on what to get. I can’t go without one.
Ugh, that sucks. I hope you can either get it fixed or get something worked out.
It’s so hard to be ‘puter-less in this day and age…we are all so dependent on them for our communications. I hope that you get yours replaced soon! Good luck.
What a bummer about your computer. My home computer crash and died a few years ago. I was without a computer for a couple of weeks while I was waiting for my new one to come. I was surprised by how much I count on it during the day! Hope you are able to get it fixed or get a new one.
Uh-oh! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your computer!
I can’t even imagine trying to post reviews on a tiny little screen. That would drive me crazy! I hope you are able to get your computer fixed or get a replacement soon!
Uh oh! I thought Apple products weren’t supposed to die like that! That is reserved for PCs!
Tell me about it!
