The Sunday Salon: December 21, 2008

It’s been an interesting Sunday. We headed out to the cemetery to visit those loved ones that are no longer with us and my husband and I ended up getting into a spat, right there at the grave site. The spat was over the dead plant he picked out at the Home Depot (of all places). Enough said.

After the spat, we ended up at Vroman’s, one of my favorite bookstores. I picked up a copy of Loving Frank for myself. I could have spent all day there but I managed to pry myself away after about an hour of wandering around.

Now that I am home, I am feeling a tad under the weather. Just a tad. I am going to pop some vitamin c because it would be my luck to get sick right at the beginning of my two weeks off. While sitting in bed for a bit, I did manage to write my review of The Rest of Her Life which will post here tomorrow.

Tonight is the arrival of the Holiday Toy Express. It’s a train that is decorated for the holidays. It stops at a local station and puts on a twenty minute show. Each year, we take some friends that have Down Syndrome to look at Christmas lights, but this year we are checking out the train instead. We have been doing this since my son was born so that’s a good ten years. We’re hoping that Adam and Debbie enjoy it too as well as our friend Yvonne.

Well, off to tidy up the house a bit. All I did was sit in bed for an hour or so and when I came downstairs, it looked as if a hurricane hit it.

  1. Oh, Ti, I had to share your story about the argument in the cemetary with my husband. That sounds just like something he and I would do.Hope you’re feeling better, and enjoy the train!

  2. I understand spats like that Ti. Hopefully, all is resolved now!HI ope that you had a great time at the Holiday Train and how nice that you take friends with you. Hopefully, you’re feeling better for your time off.

  3. I couldn’t help but laugh at the mental picture of your spat at the gravesite. It is soooo something that my husband and I would do!Hang in there…this, too, shall pass. 🙂

  4. A spat over the dead plant purchased at Home Depot! He should have known better 🙂 Hubs and I have had those moments too, and don’t you know, they’re always in the most ridiculous locations. Hope you’re feeling better!

  5. I got *Loving Frank* from PBS this week; I’ve been looking forward to reading it for a while. The Christmas train program sounds neat … do you go on it, or is it all viewing from the outside?
