In honor of Banned Books Week, I’d like to take a moment to list some of my favorite books. I read them and immediately fell in love with them. Many of them were read when I was in college but I re-read them whenever I can and they all have a permanent home on my bookshelf.
I realize that some of these were challenged, as opposed to ‘banned’ but you get the idea. When they are old enough, I hope my kids enjoy them as much as I do.
Book Chatter 
The mere fact that someone out there thought it appropriate to remove one of these book from the public's grasp (i.e. challenging) is frightening. We need to totally squelch the mere thought that anyone has the right to do that. Never mind the absurd reasons they use to justify it! I read and love banned books, too, Ti! 🙂
What would life be like without these books? Awful! The whole idea make me feel ill.
I've loved all of those books, except Lolita and Brave New World, which I haven't read.
I'm always struck by how book banner types pick out the best books! I wonder if they actually read them…
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorites. Even watching the movie over and over and over (substitute teaching) again didn't ruin the story for me.
Amazing to think that these wonderful books were banned Scary too!
Oh you are a bad girl! Look at all of those evil books you've read. The funnies thing about banning a book? It makes everyone want to read it!
Thank you for highlighting some great challenged and banned books. My preference would be for my kids to explore topics that are challenged or banned through books instead of IRL. We need to keep fighting the good fight and keep all books on the shelves.
