The Sunday Salon: December 7, 2008

Sunday is supposed to be about rest and relaxation but that is not what is on my plate today.

Last night we had a good time at the Los Angeles Zoo’s Reindeer Romp. There were crafts, movies and there was a special performance by Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob. My kids love SpongeBob. SpongeBob used to annoy the hell out of me but I’ve grown to like the sea sponge, although technically he looks nothing like a sea sponge.

After the “romp” we toured the DWP’s Holiday Light Festival which was awesome but with all that walking around, I am completely wiped out today. Here are some pics from last night.

As for reading, I am reading Ransom My Heart by Meg Cabot. It’s not something I would normally pick up on my own but that is why I requested it from First Look. I am trying to step out of my box a bit and since I’ve never read anything by her, I figured, “why not?” I just started it so no initial thoughts on it yet.

The rest of the day deals with the Holiday Dinner show my kids are in. The call time is 2pm for them and the show starts at 6pm so it will be a full day. No restful weekend for me!

What are you doing this Sunday? Shopping? Lounging in PJ’s?

The Sunday Salon: November 30, 2008

Why is it that five days off from work goes by so quickly? It seems like yesterday that I was driving home looking forward to my time off. UGH.

This morning is a bit up in the air for me. One of my in-laws spent the night last night and is leaving this morning. Not sure exactly when but it was a nice visit.

I am currently reading Forever Lily by Beth Nonte Russell. It’s about a mother and her experience with the adoption process in China. Actually, it’s about a lot more than that and I am loving it. It is beautifully written. I am about halfway through the book and hope to post the review by Monday…Tuesday at the latest.

This afternoon the kids have rehearsal and my hubby and I plan to do a bit more shopping until they are done. Their show is next week and I am not sure they are ready. I say this for every show and it ALWAYS comes together but I always have my doubts.

This evening… just plan to make a simple meal and enjoy some reading. Next week is incredibly busy for me so I really need the break to mentally prepare for it.

What do you have planned today?
