The Week Ahead: November 3-9, 2008

As far as time changes go, I prefer Standard Time over Daylight Savings but it takes me a little while to get used to driving to work with the sun peeking over the mountains. I’ll be dragging for a good week or so.

Now, more than I ever, I need to plan my weeks accordingly so here is what I have planned for this week:

Monday, November 3, 2008 – Sending Tethered to Shelburns today. Yoga at noon. No meetings today at work (thank you meeting Gods!). Hope to knock at least one gift off my Christmas list today. Trying to decide if I should participate in the Book Giveaway Carnival and if so, what to give away. Taking Kidlet #1 to rehearsal tonight but instead of reading, I have to go to the market instead (blech!). I hate going to the market!

Tuesday, November 4, 2008 – Election Tuesday! I voted by absentee ballot so my vote it in. I have a lunch date with In The Woods and an exercise bike. Might as well try to get a work out in while I’m reading right? I have a meeting in the afternoon but no rehearsal or anything tonight so my plan is to finish In The Woods. Yep, that’s my goal so I can stop talking about it (besides my review).

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 – Today is a busy day. I have a divisional meeting this morning for TWO hours! Lunch with an on-campus women’s group I belong to, which should be super fun. No rehearsal scheduled tonight so it’s me and a book on the couch after dinner.

Thursday, November 6, 2008 – Nothing going on in the morning but hope to have another lunch date with an exercise bike and The Inheritance of Loss. Later this afternoon I will be attending a seminar on workplace violence and we will be discussing an “active shooter” scenario. Interesting stuff. After that I have another meeting for work. I hope I am not too tired of meetings because my book group meets tonight as well to discuss Infidel which I reviewed here.

Friday, November 7, 2008 – As of now my Friday is empty (except for work). I hope to knock off some book related gifts today. I figure if I do a little each week I will be done before I know it. I also plan to work on my menu for Thanksgiving. Not sure if my husband and Kidlet #1 will be going to the local high school football game but if they do, maybe Kidlet #2 and I will go with them. She doesn’t sit still for too long but maybe she’d like it? You think?

The Weekend – We don’t have anything firm planned for the weekend but I would love to just stay home and do nothing. I have a bunch of movies from Netflix that are just begging to be seen and as you can imagine, a stack of books that are competing for my attention as well.

Anything interesting planned this week?

The Sunday Salon – November 2, 2008

It’s been a busy week but a good one. I posted a review of Infidel and then later in the week posted a review of Creepers. I posted the winner of my ARC of Tethered. It was a lot of fun reading about what you enjoy about Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, everything went smoothly and it was a fun night for everyone. I get a little anxious when I have to work on Halloween. I panic about getting home in time, getting the kids dressed, etc. However, this time I had all the stuff ready to go the night before so it was stress free. My note for next year is to buy extra candy and not put it in the tub. My son and his friend handed out gobs of it within the first half hour of them doing it and I had to resort to whatever was in my house. Boys!

Saturday was rainy so I ran some errands and then curled up on the couch with In The Woods. I managed to polish off about 100 pages so now I feel as if I am making some progress. I know some of you have mentioned that you find it surprising that I am having a hard time getting into it, but I’ve noticed that if it deals with a child and abuse of any kind, I tend to tiptoe around it for awhile before jumping into it.

Today I am taking it easy. I feel a “bug” coming on so I doused myself with vitamin c and lots of fluids and I am sitting here on the couch watching Super Why with Kidlet #2. Later, we plan to visit my nephew who is back from basic training (Army). After that, my husband and I plan to do a little Christmas window shopping while Kidlet #1 and Kidlet #2 rehearse for a variety show this evening. We have to tell Santa what to get! Oh, and it is still raining here but I love it.

What do you have going on today?
