The first book I plan to read for the R.I.P. XV challenge is Heart-Shaped Box. It’s been on my list for a really long time. I’ve heard good things. I have high hopes.
Aging, self-absorbed rock star Judas Coyne has a thing for the macabre — his collection includes sketches from infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy, a trepanned skull from the 16th century, a used hangman’s noose, Aleister Crowley’s childhood chessboard, etc. — so when his assistant tells him about a ghost for sale on an online auction site, he immediately puts in a bid and purchases it.
It’s not too late to join in. Just pick some books or movies and use the hashtags you see below when talking about them on Twitter and Instagram (#PERILREADERS, #RIPXV).
Enjoy your RIP books! We started watching Locke and Key on Netflix last night. It’s from a Joe Hill graphic novel series that you probably know all about. I was telling my husband that Joe is Stephen King’s son. We’ll see how the TV adaptation goes.
I have heard of the show but I didn’t know it was associated with Hill. I find that Hill and King are so different when it comes to writing. Good storytellers but King has that sarcastic wit that I love.
I think I read this when it first came out but, don’t remember any of it now LOL – I just was able to download The Vanishing Half from library; started it today – on part 2 and hooked. I know you loved it, I can see why.
I hope you enjoy Hill’s book. I really enjoyed it myself.
Hey Ti! I was thinking of joining in, because I was hoping it would inspire me to read. My reading has fallen way to the wayside lately and I’m not happy about it. I’ve been re-reading old favorites, but I want to read something new. I crave new books and I buy them, but when it comes to reading them I just can’t seem to do it. Ugh. Anyhow, I’m hoping that maybe picking up something for R.I.P. will help me get my reading mojo back. Enjoy the Joe Hill book – looks good!
Definitely join in. You know you only have to pick a few things and I know you will probably be watching Ratched so that counts too.
I enjoyed Heart Shaped Box – I’m compiling my RIP list at the moment too!
Great! I can’t wait to see your list.
It is only three days in…officially…but I’ve been enjoying RIP already.
Enjoy! It’s always amazing to me that so many people enjoy reading scary books. I can’t even think about them without having bad dreams.
The only thing that gives me nightmares is the current administration and the news.
I know that your review for this one is up, but since I’m listening to it, I’ll wait to read it. I hope you have some other recommendations for me.
