This is an event that I look forward to every year. There are different levels of commitment but basically, you agree to read or watch content that falls into any of these categories:
Mystery
Suspense
Thriller
Gothic
Horror
Dark Fantasy
The event was created by Carl over at Stainless Steel Droppings and it’s in its eleventh year. That’s how popular it is.
R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril XI takes place from September 1st, 2016 through October 31st, 2016.
I’ve chosen the Peril the Second option where you agree to read two books. Here is what I hope to read but I keep changing my mind:
- The Tommyknockers by Stephen King (proposed a read-along and heard crickets)
- Summer of Night by Dan Simmons
I’ve also chosen Peril on the Screen which applies to movies/TV shows!! My favorite part of this event. Here is what I hope to watch:
- Halloween I & II
- The Shining
- IT (Doesn’t the new movie come out soon? (Update: 9/2017!)
- The Legend of Hell House
- Bates Motel (DVR is overflowing)
- American Horror Story – Hotel (DVR again)
The only other requirement is that you share the fun with others. Would you like to join us?
Ti, I love this event, too 🙂 I’m going to do books and movies, too. I think the new version of It comes out in time – fingers crossed! I’ll definitely be watching the Halloween movies and AHS. I just finished The Long Walk by King and plan on reading his book of shorts – The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. I read Tommyknockers ages ago and enjoyed it. I’ve never heard of Summer of Night, but it sounds good – I may have to read it! Enjoy R.I.P.!! I can’t wait to read your posts 🙂
Summer of Night was on my list last year but I never got to it. It’s on many “scariest books ever” lists.
Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble…..LOL!
If only we had weather to go along with the event. Reading scary books when it’s warm out kind of kills it for me. Right now it’s gorgeous though. Will be mid-80s today which is very nice for September.
I love this challenge. I haven’t picked what I’m going to read, but I want to see the new IT
I just updagted my post. Part one hits theaters on 9/8 but in 2017!! I thought it was this year.
Wonderful choices! I’m going to take a few minutes this weekend to sort out some reading choices for this — I’m getting jealous, reading everyone else’s RIP lists!
I know. It’s hard to come up with a list. The movie/TV watching part is easy but when it comes to the books I always have ideas in my head that do not pan out in the end. I think I listed the same two books last year. LOL.
I really would like to play along but seem to fail at this every year and don’t know if I can squeeze one more book into my fall. Enjoy!
