Sunday Matters: I Took a Trip Down the Rabbit Hole

Sunday Matters

How was your Thanksgiving? I hope it was great. I caught a few of you on Instagram and Facebook and it looked like everyone had a great time with family and friends.

I don’t know what happened to me but I had the week off and spent the entire week battling some unknown infection. When you have Lupus, doctors typically blame everything on it so I don’t really know what I had. I just know that I was down for the count. I was able to pull the meal together but I did not have an appetite for it. and had trouble eating,  which kills me because it’s my favorite holiday of the year.

I am very thankful to have had the time off though. I didn’t plan to spend it being sick but at least I had the time to stay home  because there was no way I could go to work in that condition. I spent most of it on the couch watching movies. The weather was sunny but crisp which made for some nice couch time. I just feel as if I lost the entire week. It’s a weird feeling. Very much like falling down a rabbit hole.

Yesterday, I didn’t feel all that great but I had to get out of the house so we drove to Santa Barbara, did a little shopping and had a nice dinner out. Also, somehow all the decorations went up so we are set in that department.

The beach was just so gorgeous. Look at that view!

The beach!

Right Now:

I’ve got a cup of coffee in my hand and it’s the first time all week I’ve been able to enjoy it. I am listening to my church’s service online and debating whether I will make it to the service today.

My son had to go to Hollywood to shoot some promotional stuff for the show he’s doing right now, The Cat’s Meow but he did not pick a good day to do it since the streets are shut down for the parade. Sigh. The Hub went with him. The Girl is still sleeping. The sun is streaming through the window and I am just loving the quiet.

This Week:

I am off on Monday and I am so glad I decided to take the extra day because it is going to be a busy week:

Monday: Rehearsal for The Girl and Teen. Two different shows.
Tuesday: Doctor’s appointment. Unrelated to my current issue.
Wednesday: Rehearsal for The Teen.
Thursday: Hair appointment, Book Club Holiday Party.
Friday: Opening night of The Cat’s Meow, Middle school leader Holiday party.
Saturday: Working concessions and seeing The Cat’s Meow this night. It also runs the following weekend so if there’s not enough help I may wait until next week.

Reading:

Rereading Kafka on the Shore. I am at 50% right now. Wasn’t able to do any reading this past week so I hope to finish it up tonight and tomorrow. I am about 60% into Irving’s Avenue of Mysteries and it’s grown on me. Such a rough start but I am enjoying it now.

Watching:

Oh my goodness. I’ve watched so much this week due to my time on the couch. I watched Birdman, Singin’ in the Rain, Home Alone, loads of The Twilight Zone, Miracle on 34th Street, Little Man Tate, Elf on the Shelf, episode after episode of Seinfeld and Roseanne, and I’ve got a lot recorded to watch today.

Let’s not forget tonight’s mid-season finale of The Walking Dead!!

Making:

I honestly haven’t a clue. We have tons of leftovers so maybe it will be a leftover night.

Grateful for:

I am grateful that the pain has subsided and that I am feeling more like myself today.

  1. I am so sorry that you ended up getting sick over your long weekend. I know that is not what you planned. With your extra day off tomorrow, I do hope you get some things done you did have planned, even it if means relaxing and taking a break from all the things.

  2. What a drag to be sick for the holiday. Sorry to hear it and glad you are on the mend. I can relate to the falling down the rabbit hole feeling. I broke my ankle in August, and it feels like I’ve lost months of my life completely. I’m starting to finally be able to do more but it’s still kind of a struggle.

I’ve been doing lots of TV watching myself. I’m revisiting the Hunger Games movies this weekend. One to go!

  3. That totally sucks that you were sick! I’m glad you are feeling better 🙂 I can’t wait for TWD mid-season finale tonight – its going to be sooo good!!

  4. So sorry that you’ve been so sick! What a terrible way to spend a week you were planning to enjoy so much. Hope you’re feeling better. Good luck with your busy week!

  5. I am so sorry that you had to spend the week sick. It always bums me to lose my day(s) off to sickness. Glad to hear that you are feeling much better! Anyways, before you know it, the Christmas holidays will be here, yay!

  6. Aww, so sorry you were sick this week. Glad you’re on the mend now. I haven’t taken down my fall decorations yet, but will get to this week so I can start on Christmas – you’re ahead of the game!

  7. That stinks but I’m glad you’re feeling better! We still have the Thanksgiving decorations up, and family stuff took up most of the long weekend but it was fun to see some that we don’t see very often and nice to have the kids home. I listened to the audio edition of Kafka on the Shore, and have thought I should try re-reading it in print.

    1. Besides a wreath, a door mat and a few home decor items, we don’t do much for Thanksgiving which make the take-down very easy. I love the Christmas stuff, though. Makes the house feel so homey.

I am at work today after ten days off. Ugh, ugh, ugh! Trying to make the best of it.

  8. I hope you feel better soon. You’ll need to get some stuff off your plate. Remember live simpler. 🙂 I’m glad you did have the week off to recuperate as best you could. I hope the movies were enjoyable. I got to watch Terminator Genisys, Transcendence, Max, Shaun the Sheep (again), Inside Out, and Jurassic World

    1. Thank you for reminding me to live simply. I feel as if I do but when my body falls apart like this it’s a reminder that I am either not doing that at all or not doing it well.

I managed to watch Wild. As you know I did not like the book at all but the movie was so much better. I have Jurrasic World to watch as well but didn’t have time for it.

  9. I am sorry you were sick over the Thanksgiving holiday, Ti. It seems like something was going around because you aren’t the first person to mention it. 😦 I do hope you are feeling better now.

    1. Thank you! Since they didn’t really know what it was, I’m afraid it will come back. I am finally able to eat but it still hurts and I took my last antibiotic. I certainly do not want a repeat for my Winter break!

  10. So glad to hear about Avenue of Mysteries. I was waiting for it 😀 to actually purchase the book. Your week sounds hectic – I hope you’re managing okay. Hugs ❤

    1. I am okay, I guess. I have nothing for tonight so I plan to just crash. I am about to go through my reader to see what everyone has been up to but I do hope your holiday week was good.

  11. Hope you’re still climbing out of the rabbit hole. I know here, it hasn’t been easy to climb out of the hole, but we’re still working on it. I guess sometimes that’s all we can do: work on climbing out of the rabbit hole.

    1. I’m still climbing. Had an exhausting day yesterday and find myself yawning way too many times this morning but tonight I have nothing planned and plan to just crash. I am trying to finish these two books but not feeling well hasn’t helped with that. I always thought I could hole up in bed and read when not well but not lately. I just want to be done with these two books!

  12. I hope you’re feeling better Ti. That’s rough over the holiday. Santa Barbara looks like a perfect antidote. We watched the WD finale. It was okay. Enough to keep me going. Holding that W guy was bad news.

    1. Hi there. I had a good day yesterday but today I feel a relapse coming on. I seriously don’t know what is going on and my insurance is set to change come January so the timing is not good at all. I will figure it out.

TWD…that wolf. There is a reason why Rick is the way he is. He’s learned to not leave loose ends. So has Carol. Morgan should know this because it was the loose end he left that ending up getting his son killed. I am not really liking Morgan this way. I liked him from the first season. Genuine and willing to protect what’s his. I want that Morgan back.

What about crazy Ron and his brother? My goodness.
