2013: DNF #1 (Ashenden)

Ashenden

My first DNF (did not finish) of the year and I am so disappointed about it! I really liked the sound of this one, but the reading experience was a struggle. It just didn’t pull me in and I read through about 25% on my Kindle before I decided to give up.

If anyone else has read it, and feels differently about it, let me know. I don’t like to give up on a book, but my time is valuable and I just had to move on.

  1. I’ve seen this particular cover or some similar version of it on multiple books over the last couple of years…weird. Ain’t nobody got time for books that don’t pull you in :p

    1. I admit. I went online when I had doubts and read some other reviews. It didn’t seem like it was going to get better according to the review so that sealed the deal for me!

  2. I’ve never even heard of this book, but based on the cover alone, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up – yes I sometimes pick books based on their covers (such a bad habit). Anyhow, sorry it didn’t work out for you. However, your time is precious and you should spend it on a worthwhile read – hope the next book turns out to be a great read 😉

  3. I’ve never heard of this one, but I will definitely steer clear of it. Getting 25 percent through it, you definitely gave it more than a chance to improve. Better luck next time!

    1. I normally enjoy books where the house is a character as well, but I didn’t find that in the 25% I read. It might have been on the edge of picking up but I just didn’t have the patience.

  4. How disappointing, Ti, especially when this booksounds so promising and unique. I read a few reviews, good and bad and I def. saw the potential for this not working out. DNF is hard but time is short and there are so many books to read…
Thank you for your honest opinion about this book :o)
