The Sunday Salon: I Want…

This Sunday, I find myself wanting all sorts of things:

  • I want more time to do the things that I enjoy.
  • I want this headache to go away.
  • I want to never have to worry about the food that crosses my lips. Recent health issues have forced me to be more concerned about this and it’s…it’s NOT fun.
  • I want every book in the Persephone Catalogue and Claire from Kiss a Cloud is to blame for that. Her beautiful posts about the books have caught my eye and now I find myself desiring all of them.

This past week was a busy week. I posted my review of The Day the Falls Stood Still and also posted a Q&A with Cathy Marie Buchanan along with a giveaway of the book. The giveaway ends on Sept 18th so be sure to check it out.

I also posted a review of Secrets of a Christmas Box. Speaking of Christmas, I went shopping the other day and the Christmas ornaments were out (picture Ti running away screaming). I LOVE Christmas but it’s not even Halloween yet people.

My weekend so far has been okay. I didn’t do much yesterday except enjoy a lovely BBQ with friends. Today, the Hub is at work so I will probably take the kids for a bookstore run. My daughter is craving one of the chocolate chip cookies from the bookstore cafe so I’m sure we will be stopping for a treat or two.

Next week is Book Blogger Appreciation Week. It runs all week through Sept 18th and there will be all sorts of fun, bookish things going on. It should be a really fun week.

As for reading, I am reading The Last Dickens for an upcoming TLC book tour. What are you reading today?

  1. I had the same reaction when I received the catalogue:) Since then I have narrowed my wishlist down a bit. If you haven't read it, I highyly recommend the short story by Edith Wharton in the Biannually. I hope your headache goes away…not fun at all and they seriously cut into reading time.

  2. Oh, I know what you know about the Christmas stuff. It almost seems like the retailers want to kill our Christmas spirit.

  3. Ti, I sure hope you feel better. Headaches can just ruin your day. I'm going to have to check out the Persephone Catalogue. I'm intrigued.

Have fun next week. I can't believe that BBAW is almost here.

  4. I hope that your headache goes away soon! I can relate in small ways to having to watch what I eat – caffeine interacts with my medicine, so I can only have a small amount each month (It makes my heart race otherwise). Usually this equals one cup of caffeinated coffee and one dr pepper each month. I really look forward to those days. And I keep thinking why didn't I drink more coffee when I had the chance? πŸ™‚

Anyway, I don't know what your health issues are, but I hope that they can be resolved and/or that you make an easy adjustment to your new regimen.

I actually finished the books I set out to read today (first time that has happened) so I started reading Julie & Julia.

  5. I want more time to do the things I enjoy, too, but it seems that most of my time must, unfortunately, be dedicated to my soul sucking job. Er, sorry, I'm feeling particularly ill-disposed toward my (soul-sucking) employment of late. I'm sure I'll get over it. Somewhat. Eventually.

But I digress. Hope you kick the headache soon and feel better!

  6. Book Psmith – thanks for the suggestion. It's a bit overwhelming to want them all at once.

Kathy – I know the retailers are hoping for a longer spending period, but REALLY!

Jennifer – My headache is still there but not at bad. I just feel sort of 'out of it'.

Amanda & Alyce – My health issues involve severe food sensitivities which I never had before so not really serious but the list of foods I CAN eat is dwindling.

Megan – a soul-sucking job can do you in. My job has its moments as well.

  7. I know what you mean, Ti. I would like many of those things too. I'm looking forward to reading The Last Dickens. Enjoy your week!

  8. Oh, I think "The Help" would be a great book for a book club–in fact, my book club is going to be reading at some point next year. The leader of the group and I have both read it and loved it and can't wait to share.

  9. Oh yay! Which ones are you seriously considering to read first? I'm in the middle of Mariana and quite enjoying it. Hope your headache goes away soon.. 😦
