Vacation Reading

I am thoroughly enjoying my time away, but the lack of Wi-Fi has given me a bit of the “shakes.” On the other hand, I have been doing a lot of reading.

I am about 50 pages from the end of The Shadow of the Wind and I am loving it. I also have The Blue Notebook which I have started as well but it’s not one that I am able to read straight through. I’ve had to take several breaks from it.

I also brought along Ugly Man and The Art of Racing in the Rain. I am hoping to get to all of them by the end of the week but my family is tiring of me sitting with my nose in a book so we’ll see how far I get.

I just bought myself a book light because I have not been able to sleep too well so perhaps I can sneak a bit more reading in.

Excuse the lack of hyperlinks. Time on this computer is limited so I must cut it short. Hope you are all reading something really good.

  1. We're going on vacation in a few weeks and I won't have wi-fi either. I'm already dreading that aspect of the trip. We leave on a Tuesday and come back on Saturday and I already have 8 books stacked up to go! Have fun with your family – I'll be looking for your reviews when you get back.

  2. Happy vacation! Happy vacation reading! I just *loved* Shadow of the Wind! Glad you're enjoying it.

  3. I had WiFi access on my trip but it kept giving me this notice about it being "insecure" which I did not think related to its personality, so I was reluctant to use it. But I didn't get much reading in anyway! Hope you are having fun and the Snack Cakes look forward to your return!

  4. I love that cover! That is not the cover that is on my (unread) copy.

Hope you're having a great vacation.

  5. Ha ha.. I can relate.. while camping everyone in camp had their phone that worked for internet.. my fancy new device..Nadda.

Enjoy your time and the books.

  6. And I'm currently reading The Angel's Game (along with a few other things). If you end up loving Shadow of the Wind, I'll send you Angel's Game.

  7. I've never seen that book cover for The Shadow of the Wind – it's lovely!
Anyway, I just reviewed The Blue Notebook and agree, it's a hard read.
I am going to start The Art of Racing In the Rain for my book club next and am looking forward to it!

  8. Hope you're enjoying your time away! I have The Art of Racing in the Rain on my pile, hoping to get to it soon. Then we can compare notes 🙂

  9. OMG OMG…Shadow of the Wind is one of my favorite books of all time.
Look at the quote on my blog at the top header. Love it! Love it!
I'm glad you are enjoying your vacation. I bought a book light but it didn't work very well.

    Enjoy your time away. 🙂
    PS….And Shadow of the Wind

  10. Hoping the reading is keeping your mind off the Game On Diet! I applaud you for taking this on while on vacation … you are a better woman than me!

And I usually read the most on vacations! I love it!

  11. When you don't have regular access to the internet, you really do miss it, don't you? I am glad you are at least getting in lots of reading.

I hope to read The Shadow of the Wind one of these days. I've heard such great things about it. The Blue Notebook is also one I really want to read.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
