The weather in Southern California is just beautiful right now. Yesterday it was 85 degrees and it felt really nice. While my son was at a birthday party, my daughter and I hit the bookstore to celebrate her reading breakthrough! Unfortunately, she takes after her mama and could not decide on any books to actually buy.
She wandered from one stack to another, eyes wide, with a little smile on her face. It was so cute. One book that caught her eye is The Tushy Book. Although this book is very cute, it’s geared towards the pre-school set. Too young for her now that she is a reader. A reader! I just like saying that.
Saturday night we ordered food and watched the Kid’s Choice Awards (on TV). I wish all awards shows were as much fun as this one. We laughed and since the voting was live my son kept voting for his favorites via my laptop. We love to watch the kids get slimed!
Right now I am lounging around in my jammies and plan to plop down and finish Nineteen Minutes so I can focus on my next book The Prudent Mariner. I was trying to read them together but it’s just not working out. I really think I will go back to reading one book at a time. I know many of you read more than two books at a time but with work and family stuff I just get too distracted.
Later today we are heading to a BBQ at my Mother-in-Law’s house. It’s the perfect day for a cook out so we are looking forward to it. What do you have planned for today?
Well done to your daughter and her reading. I am terrible in a book store too, I can spend hours searching for the right book.
I’m so happy your daughter is a Reader!! Yay! I’ve gone back to reading one at a time as well. Now I don’t have to waste time wondering which book to read! lol Have fun at your BBQ!
We also caught the awards last night, and it was super fun for everyone.>>Know you must be thrilled about your daughter reading! My girl is a bit older now (we are getting ready to set off to the book store for the third installment in the Twilight series) but I remember that feeling well. We have girls nights from time to time when we bunk in together and read until the wee hours.>>Today I am reading The Post Office Girl and loving it. Highly recommend it if you get the chance.
How exciting for you and your daughter! It’s a special moment when you see them make the connection with written words. Lots more fun in store for the two of you!>Hope you have fun at the BBQ, as well. It’s raining here (RI) and I spent most of the day in bed with a sore throat!
Eighty-five degrees?! I am SO jealous 🙂>>What a wonderful way to spend the weekend with your kids. Sounds like it was fun and relaxing.
I can only read 1 book at a time, unless I’m reading a fiction and non-fiction. We’ve had a rainy week, but finally have some sun today. With the sun came strong winds, though.
We watched the Kids Choice awards also and ordered takeout! It was a fun show and my son voted online as well. It’s fun to see their excitement. My son has been sick with strep so he was happy to have a fun diversion.>>Hope all went well with your procedure.
It is beautiful today isn’t it? I do best when I read one book at a time two. Sometimes I can juggle two, but usually, I prefer to stick to one. >>I hope you enjoy your cook out and have a great week, Ti.
I love the little story about your daughter in the bookstore. I’m sure that’s exactly what I do too. Hope you had a nice bbq and have a great week!
What a lovely Sunday you seemed to have had. I can’t read more than one book at a time either-you hit the nail on the head–to distracting. So, did your daughter not end up with a book from the store? We have the opposite problem in our family-we find too many books to buy!! 😉>Happy Monday->Kim
