The Sunday Salon: January 25, 2009

It’s Sunday and it happens to be a rainy Sunday. Normally I would rejoice at the thought of this but today is the first day we are in the theater for The Music Man. Thus begins a week of long nights and tired kids (tired parents too). From 3pm today until next Sunday at 11pm, I will be running around prepping for or working the show.

You are probably wondering why I have a picture of a creepy doll attached to this post. Well, this doll is Fancy Nancy, based on the popular children’s book. We love Fancy Nancy in this house but my daughter got this doll from Santa this Christmas and she is terrified of it. She makes it face the wall so she does not have to look at it. I, on the other hand, love it. I am using it for my photography class and this picture is an example of an overcast day, no flash, manual focus. I have to put her in different lighting situations and I needed something portable, so Fancy Nancy works.

My entire day will be spent prepping for the week, running my son back and forth to rehearsal, making sure we eat, etc. It can be a very stressful time, but once the show starts on Friday it will all be worth it. It always is in the end. I also have to take a few more photos for my class assignment sometime today. I’m sure I will be creeping around the backyard tonight trying to get a night shot.

So that’s my day. What are you doing today?

  1. I wanted to get a Fancy Nancy doll for my school library but I was shocked to see they wanted $40 for her! Too much!

  2. She is a little creepy.I just got my house to an acceptable level of clean for my father-in-law to come over.I am now about to make lunch- ham sandwiches so I don’t make a mess!

  3. I would have turned fancy nancy to the wall too. Both my brother and I have this thing about harlequins and we just couldn’t stand them. They always got relegated to a box in the closet. Gave me the creeps.Have fun with the Music Man. My post is up now.

  4. I’ve seen those Fancy Nancy dolls, and I think they are a little creepy. Hope your busy week goes as smoothly as possible…I’m thinking some light brain-candy reading is in order.

  5. I hope you can maintain your sanity this week, Ti!I love the photo and the class sounds fun, but I think maybe I agree with your daughter – that doll is a little scary 🙂

  6. It’s funny the kinds of things that kids are scared of.I am spending a relaxing evening getting caught up on my blog reading. Afterward I’ll read The Secret Scripture.

  7. I loved all the pics from your photography class – yes, they’re creepy! I can see this one in a trailer for a horror movie!I’m with your daughter on Fancy Nancy. Those Precious Moments dolls always gave me the creeps, too!
