Sigh. Big sigh. This was the first weekend where I had a chance to just sit back and relax a bit. We expected a huge storm to hit, but it never panned out. Worked for me because we didn’t make any huge plans because of it so we just wandered around town a bit looking at Christmas lights and then went to a live Nativity scene which we go to each year.
Later tonight our close friends are coming over for dinner and a Christmas exchange. We decided to order in so no cooking involved! It’s nice to keep things simple sometimes. On that note, I think I will re-work some things for next year to simplify the season a bit. Things this year were a bit complicated and I just haven’t had a chance to savor any one thing. That’s not what the holiday is supposed to be about and it’s bringing me down a bit.
On a book note, I am reading The Rest of Her Life by Laura Moriarty. I’m reading it for Book Club Girl’s discussion which will take place this Wednesday. This book had me at page one. I have not read a book lately that has been able to do that. I am glued to it and cannot put it down. I’m looking forward to finishing up stuff around the house so I can get back to it.
There are still two items I need to pick-up as far as gifts, but it’s looking like I may go the gift card route. I can handle that. I just want to be done! What about you? Are you done with your shopping?
I’m going to have to put The Rest of Her Life on my TBR list. I’m not done with shopping yet, but maybe I will go to gift card route. So much simpler. >>Have a good week!
I just finished The Rest of Her Life and I really liked it a lot. I’ll be doing the chat on Wednesday too.
That’s funny – The Rest of Her Life was one of those books that didn’t have me from hello. I finished it thinking that I didn’t really like it – only to realize later that it had left a lasting impression on me. >>I finished up my Christmas shopping yesterday. Yay! Now for all the gift wrapping and Christmas card writing and…so on and so on. Oh well, finishing the shopping was a small victory. 😉
I have The Rest of Her Life, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to read it by Wednesday.>>I finished my shopping early this year, but our family is pretty small, and Hamburger is responsible for shoping for his side of the family, so things are pretty easy.
I am NOT EVEN CLOSE to being done shopping!
