The Week Ahead: November 10-16, 2008

The weather this past weekend went from warm to cold very quickly. Today, it’s a little nippy out but I can tell it will warm up by lunch time. Mother Nature has not made up her mind as to which direction to take as far as November weather. I just hope it’s not 98 degrees when I am roasting a turkey. It’s happened before.

Here’s what’s going on in my world this week:

Monday, November 10, 2008 – No meetings today at work but I have yoga at noon. Can I let you in on a secret? I am beginning to not like yoga so much. Lately, the instructor has been a real pill. She always says “listen to your body” so I do, but then she comes over and pushes me a bit more and things crack and pop and then I am messed up for the entire week. Hello lady! I am listening to my body but you are not! Tonight my son has rehearsal so I will be reading, in the car with my blanket and flashlight until he is done. I am starting Dewey tonight so I am looking forward to it.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008 – It’s Veteran’s Day. The university I work for never gets it off but this year the campus is closed. My kids are also out of school and there’s no daycare so we will be having lunch and seeing High School Musical 3. I’ve managed to escape all of the High School Musicals up until this point but my 10 year-old son is pretty excited about seeing it although he is playing Mr. Coolness and won’t admit it. My daughter is excited too. It will be a fun outing. In the evening, I have a hair appointment so that will be some “me” time. Sometime today, I will post my review of In The Woods.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008 – Today is the Harvest Breakfast here at work. This is when upper management cooks for us. It’s entertaining, but forced socialization is a bit “high school” for me. I have a couple of business meetings today and my co-worker and I have a presentation to make later this afternoon so I will miss yoga. I’m doing the happy dance so disappointed. Not sure about rehearsal tonight. Still waiting for confirmation but I am hoping there is one, so I can use to the time to knock off another book on my list.

Thursday, November 13, 2008 – Today is the big Southern California Shake Out. This is a state-wide earthquake drill. The first of its kind as far as I know. In anticipation of the “Big One” which involves the San Andreas fault, everyone is to duck and cover at 10am. Since we are a state-run university this is a huge deal. Not sure how long it will take but I will be under my desk come 10am.

Friday, November 14, 2008 – Nothing going on today. Yay! Might ask the husband to take us out to dinner if he and Kidlet #1 do not go to the high school football game. May post a giveaway today.

The Weekend – On Saturday, my husband and I go to the dentist. I know it sounds completely lame to go to the dentist on Saturday but we make a day of it. Grandma watches the kids and then after our cleanings, husband and I have a nice lunch and do some browsing if time permits. It’s like a mini-date. We don’t have anything going on on Sunday but we may visit the cemetery to pay our respects to some loved ones. It’s a bit of a drive to get there but coming back we stop at one of my favorite book stores. The kids look forward to it as well.

Anything special planned for this week?

  1. Wow Ti..sounds like you have a busy week! Tonight we have a few people coming over to help us stuff shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes will contain gifts for kids that will be sent all over the world. How cool that you have the day off for Veteran’s Day. I work for a private college and we are not as lucky! I will be thinking of you…enjoy your day! Thursday night I am going out for Mexican with a few gals and we will have Margaritas!

  2. Jo-Jo – I participated in Operation Christmas Child last year. It was a lot of fun to put the boxes together. Mexican with the girls? Chips and salsa! Sounds yummy.

  3. not good – a yoga instructor who doesn’t listen to you! Tell her that you’re listening to your body and will let her know if you need a little “push” from her! Stick with the yoga, but keep her away …

  4. I took a yoga class once. When we got to headstands I tweaked my neck. At that point, my body said I don’t like yoga. And I listened. 😀

  5. I’ve been thinking about buying a yoga video to do at home. I often have a little quiet time in the mornings with the Bug and it might be nice to try. Yes, I COULD read a book then, but I don’t.

  6. Ti, that is NOT good about the yoga instructor! Can you find a different class? My instructor never, ever did that, and I took classes w/ her for two years.Sorry for the lack of commenting lately, I’ve been out of town for a few days but I’m back and will be keeping up with my favorite blogs on a going forward basis.Shana< HREF="" REL="nofollow">Literarily<>

  7. Thats a lot of interesting stuff line up. I have no clue what I am doing tomorrow, let alone, the entire week. I am in a mood for shopping. I want shoes, no i need shoes, so thats what I’ll do. No clue as to what else I’ll be doing.
