Resolutions Anyone?

Sher over at Thursday’s Thoughts has posted her list of New Year’s resolutions and she is encouraging other book bloggers to post theirs as well. There’s something magical about the beginning of a new year. It’s a chance to set things straight and to make corrections where needed.

With that said, here’s my list:

1. Increase “quality” time with family. We have family days, but we need more of them.

2. Devote more time to true friends. The ones that give and take. The ones that share and grow with me. As you can probably guess by this entry, I had a couple of issues with friends in 2008. Looking to change that with the new year.

3. Read more. I really love to read, but it takes a backseat to the rest of my schedule and I am going to try and re-work that a bit. I also plan to read more of what “I” want to read.

4. Simplify my life. I’ve already gotten one comment saying that it may not be possible, and she is probably right but I am going to try to cut some stuff out to make room for the things that really matter. I really want to simplify the whole “get home, cook dinner, do homework” routine. It really takes its toll on me and I am left with very little time for myself when all is said and done.

5. Learn how to say “No!” I have SUCKER written on my forehead when it comes to volunteering for stuff.

6. I’m not going to include the obligatory “go to the gym” or “eat right” resolution because I do that as often as I can anyway, but on the note of self improvement, I want to work on my patience a little. I am not a patient person. I want things now…not tomorrow and it’s something that causes me a great deal of stress when things do not go as planned.

My list is not nearly as fun as some of the others I have read but it’s what I have been thinking about while off from work. If you want to join in, check out Sher’s post and start writing.
