This weekend has been lovely. Yesterday we had a very nice lunch, ran an errand or two and then went to the bookstore. It was rainy with dark clouds looming overhead. What better place to spend the day than the bookstore? My kids ADORE the bookstore almost as much as I. My daughter found the fairy books and was in heaven.
My son is dying to read the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book but I am waiting for it to come from the publisher. He wanted to take this cutout home but I convinced him to take a picture with it instead.
I didn’t buy anything. I have a gift card burning a hole in my wallet but all the books that I was considering, were not in stock. I did manage to hit the music section to sample David Cook’s new album. Um, I think I need to buy it soon. It’s really good.
I spent the rest of the evening curled up on the couch with The Terror. I am almost done with it. I have to surround myself in blankets when I read it though. It takes place in the Arctic and you really feel as if you are right there with the characters.
So what’s on my plate for today? Nothing! I am doing the happy dance over saying it too. I sent my husband to the store. The kids are working on school work and I plan to finish reading my book. Later today my son is taking a friend to the movies to see Mall Cop (groan) with my husband and my daughter and I plan to BBQ a steak and just take it easy. We may watch Mamma Mia! as I have yet to see it.
The Music Man has ended and I am back at work today trying to get motivated. Emphasis on “trying”. It’s amazing how much stacks up when you are gone for just a couple of days. My son did a great job as the Constable. His costume was three sizes too big but in the end, it sort of looked funny that way and seemed to work for what he needed it for.
My son is a funny kid. He is one of those that blends right into a scene if he needs to (he is the 10-year-old in this picture). We were all cracking up backstage because he ended up in scenes that he wasn’t supposed to be in, just because he wanted to be there. He was like Zelig.
All of the performers did an amazing job and the pics are starting to pop-up all over Facebook. I love musical theatre and look forward to The Wizard of Oz which starts in March. Yep! One short month of rest.
Now I can catch-up on all my reading and TV watching and not to mention…blogging!
