Nothing like starting the day with a big dose of NyQuil. I only wish that it had the 25% alcohol content that is used to have back when I was younger. It would make for a much better workday..that’s for sure. Still sniffling and snuffling..ahem. NyQuil…take me away.
Today I am going to lunch with some co-workers. That’s always fun. Not sure where we are going yet but anywhere outside of this building is perfectly fine by me.
It is finally Friday. Gawd it has been a long week. What do you have planned for the weekend? I wanted to catch that movie 27 Dresses but my plans fell through. Then, as luck would have it.. a last minute card workshop is being thrown by a close friend so I will attend that instead. Providing this cold/plague/whatever you call it is no longer around.
After that, our Family is going to Ojai on Sunday. Just for the day, but we like to do breakfast and then peruse the Farmer’s Market. Maybe we will hit Santa Barbara too.. there is a used bookstore there that I am particularly fond of.
Other than that, my daughter has dance class and I have go to the market (boo hiss) and Target(Tar-jay). I just HATE the market! It’s such a menial task but hey, the kidlets have to eat. Don’t mind Target so much other than the fact that I CANNOT leave there without spending at least $80. I personally believe the scanners are rigged to calculate your total bill to be $80 or more. At least they have $tarbucks there.
As some of you know, my son was in a community theatre production of Oliver this past weekend. After four months of rehearsal and the actual performances themselves..we are both wiped out! I say “both” because along with him… they got ME. This time I was in charge of props. You can call me Prop Czarina if you feel the urge.
Overall, it went well. Kids got what they needed, when they needed it and I got to spend time with my son..who is almost 10 and doesn’t want to admit that he DOES enjoy spending time with me. You know how it is. He’d see me backstage and walk by me, hoping that I wouldn’t notice him. That of course forced me to squeeze his cheeks in front of, oh.. 60 or so of his peers. Hey, Mom has to have fun too.
Of all the committees.. the ones that have me working backstage interest me the most. You get a “behind the scenes” look as the show.. the actors..the other parents. Really makes for some interesting conversation at the dinner table. However, after all the fun ends it is time to move on. That means I have to clear my car of Post Oliver crud so I can move onto the next project.
I have the following in my car right now:
A horrific looking knife A cooler full of sausages (yes.. this was from last weekend) A broken pistol (some kid broke it when I was not there! The nerve!) Some candles Stray M&Ms that never made it into my mouth A cigar box A BBQ fork Various office supplies
I’m sure there is more but nothing else comes to mind. My “to do” list involves getting rid of all of it.. so I can prepare for the next show which starts rehearsal at the end of this month. I am just now becoming somewhat human again so if I get this done by this weekend I will be very proud.
If not, I can at least toss the sausages. Yes?? Heck..I may even skip book group tonight to do it.
