Teaser Tuesdays: The Terror

First of all, I thought today was Wednesday but after taking a look at my reader, I see that it is in fact Tuesday as my reader is filled with Teaser Tuesday posts. I haven’t done these in awhile so I thought I’d play.

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

Grab your current read.

Let the book fall open to a random page.

Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. Okay, I shared a bit more than that.

You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

Please avoid spoilers!

The ebony clock concluded its striking. It was midnight. It was 1848. Men used their knives to slash through the black-dyed walls and strips of wind-tormented canvas were immediately whipped into the flames and torches and tripods out on the ice. Flames leapt skyward and almost immediately engaged the rigging.”

The Terror by Dan Simmons.

I’ve just started the book but I can tell that it’s going to be a very intense read.

The Week Ahead: January 12-18, 2009

Since production week for The Music Man is right around the corner, this week is considered the calm before the storm. I love production week but it’s a lot of work for the kids and the parents that volunteer. It’s all worth it once the kids hit the stage though.

So here is my calm week:

Monday, January 12, 2009 – Nothing much going on at work. Still working on my two special projects. Should hopefully be done with one of them within the next few days. I’m planning to hit the gym today at lunch. Rehearsal tonight so I’m glad I have dinner cooking away in the Crock Pot. Gotta love the crock. I will probably read in the car while my son is at rehearsal. I’m alternating between The Terror and Loving Frank depending on my mood. When I get home, it’s me, my DVR and the continuation of the 24 premiere.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009
– Lunch with a co-worker. Nothing going on in the evening. I plan to sit and read with a cup of tea in hand. Updated: forgot to add that American Idol starts tonight. How could I could I have forgotten that?

Wednesday, January 14, 2009
– Meetings today. Always too many meetings. More rehearsal tonight too. I have to take script notes so no sitting in the car for me.

Thursday, January 15, 2009 – Today is the day the Freshman Common Reading panel meets to discuss the One Campus, One Book finalist. I have been looking forward to this meeting for months but I can’t go! I have a major project meeting and there is no way out of it. Instead, I must submit my recommendation in writing. It’s not what I wanted to do but it’s my only option.

Friday, January 16, 2009 – Nothing going on today except work and the gym. I may post a giveaway today as I’ve not done one in awhile. Looking forward to the three-day weekend.

The Weekend
– Saturday night is Father/Son night and it’s hosted by PTO so I will be there with my daughter doing whatever needs to be done. Sunday, nothing planned but I’ll probably be running around gathering props for the show.

What does your week look like? Anyone taking advantage of the three-day weekend to do some traveling?
