Sunday Matters: Hopeful?

Sunday Matters, a latte on a wooden tray against greenery.

Hello, friends. What a week! Senator Booker’s 25 hour filibuster was something! It gave me hope for three full hours. Maybe it will encourage others to step up? So far, no. It seems as if there is more pushback in regards to most things but what will come of it? I’ve no idea.

Right Now:

Hosting the online service and then student ministry. And today is extra special because we have a meeting after all of it. They are treating us to Chipotle. Yay! Guac.

This Week:

Man, I have accomplished a lot work wise but not a lot on the reading front. Just too distracted.

Reading:

Honestly, none are holding my attention at the moment.

Watching:

Nothing, but I did see a new Shonda Rhimes show on Netflix that looks interesting. The Residence! Anyone seen it?

Grateful for:

  • The pup. She is still here! She is almost completely blind in one eye now. Age is a beast.
  • Spotify Premium. One of the best purchases ever. Love the non-stop plays, no ads but really love the newly released audio books. Makes my walk so much better.

On a more serious note, a friend’s husband passed away early Friday morning. I’m helping her plan the celebration of life and other needed arrangements. It’s rough.

Hug your loved ones. Tell them how awesome they are.

  1. First of all, so sorry about your friend’s husband. Definitely rough, but what a good, kind friend you are to help her with her planning. May I say that I really like the description ‘celebration of life’? Hope it goes well and all remember him with love. By the way, your new picture is really nice! Love it! Have a good week, Ti, and enjoy Chipotle (and the guac – ha!).

    1. My Chipotle order was botched but hey, it’s nice of them to get us lunch.

We ironed out most of the important details for the celebration of life and with these peeps, it will be a big party. They both have amazing friendships with many.

Thank you for the photo compliment! Most of my hair fell out last April and it took so long for it to grow back but now it’s curly! Who knew?

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your friend’s husband! I am glad you are able to help her plan his service.

Yesterday was a day of protesting and activism, which felt good. Will it make any difference? I hope so.

    1. It’s good to see more pushback because honestly, we haven’t seen nearly enough! How much will be taken away before something is done?

Thank you for your kind words about my friend. We have a date, venue and pastor so the celebration of life is all set. Just planning food and stuff.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s husband. Yes, it’s rough. She’s so fortunate to have you by her side.

It’s hard to focus on reading when so much is going on right now, so I’m not surprised to hear that none of those books was holding your attention.
    Take care.

    1. Thanks. I think I am finally back on track with reading but I seriously have to turn off the rest of the world to do it.

  4. Cory Booker gave me a lot of hope, as did all those who got out to protest yesterday! I would’ve loved to have protested but my husband had a book talk/signing at a library up the coast from us. Our dear friend Robin was there, which was extra special!

I’m so sorry about your friend’s husband. We are getting to that time in our lives, aren’t we? Take care, Ti. Hope you have a good week.

    1. Thank you. My friend’s husband had just entered hospice and passed peacefully on day one. The best scenario. I helped her find a date, venue and pastor for the celebration of life so we are all set!
