Sunday Matters: Who is in Your Circle?

Sunday Matters, a latte on a wooden tray against greenery.

Hello, friends. From one friend to another, how are you doing? Really. Many of my friends are struggling. This current political climate, personal challenges, health stuff. Not to mention financial struggles and the inability to earn a living wage. I wish I could take it all off your shoulders. But, I know this is temporary and I hope you realize that too.

Who is in your circle? I am far, FAR from being an introvert but if you fall into that category, don’t isolate. Find the good ones and hang on tight.

Right Now:

Hosting an online service this morning and then I’m hanging with the leaders and students. I love our students.

I was supposed to attend a student’s volleyball tournament but it was postponed so my afternoon is free.

This Week:

Looking at my calendar, my week is light. State holiday tomorrow. Yes! Reading, a walk, probably taking something apart and putting it back together again. I get antsy. Oh! Maybe I will paint something.

I do have some things at work that I will be focusing on. All creative projects and design stuff.

Reading:

I finished books and then took a little break and now my reading is up in the air. I’m actively reading:

Watching:

I need recommendations. My attention span is not cooperating.

I did recently rewatch Arthur with Dudley Moore. He was so great.

I also watched a Jack Reacher movie. The one with Tom Cruise. I will say this about Cruise, he makes good movies.

Grateful for:

  • All of you and everyone I meet who sticks with me. You know who you are.
  • A well worn pair of jeans. I have a pair that I just can’t ditch.
  • The Pup. She is a plucky little thing and still hanging on.

Have a good week. Listen to some good music, read, have that second cup of coffee.

  1. Dark Winds on Netflix is really good. Set on an Indian Reservation. A mystery but learning a lot about Indian customs etc

  2. Oh my gosh, the movie Arthur. I remember loving it all those years ago. He really was talented.

I know what you mean about things being tough. The (political and cultural) climate in the US is so scary and sad with so many people I know being directly affected. And, somehow illness seems to be hitting my circle as well.

    Have a good week.

    1. I wasn’t in the mood to watch anything but when I popped it in I laughed throughout all of it. Moore was so talented but Liza was amazing too. Every line. A treasure.

  3. We watch a lot of British crime shows on Britbox, Acorn, and even some PBS mysteries. I enjoy them a lot though my husband finds some of them a little bleak. Then he just watches some sports and is happy again – ha!

    1. I think I would love Brit Box but don’t want to add another subscription. Every now and then I can catch stuff on PBS but with the recent cuts their programming is going to change dramatically.

  4. These past few months my book club has been a major crutch. We still talk about the books and our lives, but we are rock solid on our despise of the current regime. I know we’re talking in an echo chamber, but I need that.

  5. Living close to DC is just crazy right now. So many friends lost jobs and have to find something new to afford their bills, etc. The policies, the ICE raids, everything is chaotic.
