The Sunday Salon: The Holy Moly I’m Tired Edition

Four words—Back To School Shopping.

I’m utterly wiped out. My kids don’t start until the 19th but I got most of it done today. My girlfriend and I do it together (without kids) so we get a lot done but man, it’s a lot of walking around. We shopped, had lunch at Elephant Bar and then shopped for more. The cost of shoes is just astronomical and what’s with these Twinkle Toes that all the girls have to have? Geesh!

This post is a little backwards as I am completely exhausted but I saw Julie & Julia last night. It was wonderful! I love Meryl. She is fab in it and now I want a Julia Child cookbook. Have you seen it yet? The whole blog aspect was interesting.

Tonight we are going to grill some burgers and corn and just relax. I have another unpaid furlough day tomorrow which will be spent running some more errands but there will be time to post a review or two.

I logged in today and see that I’ve lost a follower. I take these things so personally. I know. Lame on my part but I often wonder what I’ve done. It WAS a terribly slow week as far as posts but it happens sometimes. Especially when school is looming and things must be taken care of.

What am I reading? Well, I plan to start The Angel’s Game tomorrow as well as The Day The Falls Stood Still. I am looking forward to both of them. What are you looking forward to?

  1. I love love the twinkle toes.. why can't I be young again. ha.. Enjoy your furlough. I love the back to school busyness.. well… now I do.. ha ha.. I love it from afar. It has been awhile since I had school aged kids. Lunch at Elephant Bar sounds wonderful.

  2. Wow – I feel tired just reading this post! Can't wait to see Julie and Julia, and I know how you feel about losing a follower…I lost one today, too. Back to school is early for you. We have until after Labor Day.

  3. Oh, hope you enjoy The Angel's Game! I quite liked it. I'm looking forward to Julie & Julia; glad you liked it.

  4. I'm sure you lost a follower because of something in THEIR life, not your blog! How do you know you lost one, anyway?

  5. I am so tired, too. Don't know if I can even post replies on the comments on my blog, as I've been back-to-school shopping all afternoon, too. And am not yet done! Yikes. I don't bring the kids, either. It's too much work! (But with shoes, I have to.) I don't want to think about how much I spent, and how much I need to still. I'll deal with it later, lol.

About the lost follower, that's okay, they might just have switched over to Google Reader or something. 🙂

  6. I'll probably wait for Julie & Julia to come out on dvd, which is a long time, I know, but I can wait. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

  7. Congrats on getting the back to school shopping done. That is always such a big job! I recently won the book Julie and Julia and I'm looking forward to reading it. I don't want to see the movie before I read it, so I will probably wait for the DVD. Have a good week!

  8. Sounds busy Ti. Glad you have a few days off. I have Julie & Julia book to read and it looks good. I'll see the move afterwards. I'm pretty sure you didn't lose a follower because of you-your blog is great but I know what you mean. I had a bad week last week and comments sure do dwindle to nothing. Oh well, such is the game I guess. Have a great week!

  9. I'm exhausted and I haven't even made it through all of the back to school shopping yet. It's amazing how much the kids need each year. Our district doesn't start school again until the second week of September though.

I'm glad to hear that Julie & Julia was so good. I might go see it this week.

  10. Your marathon back to school shopping does sound tiring but it must be nice to do with a friend instead of kids! I do it in spurts…school supplies, clothes, shoes etc. I have to say those Twinkle Toes shoes are absolutely adorable and I would have loved them if I was a little girl also!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed Julie & Julia. I liked the book and need to find a friend to go to the movies with or recruit my book club girlfriends. Did you read the book first? I liked the blog tie in and how it was the start of it all.

Try not to take it personal about loosing a follower as others have said it was probably the other person's life that may have affected their decision or they switched from blogger to google. Or, it was someone who was just following for giveaways. Sadly, I've seen that happen to me if I don't have giveaways for awhile.

Enjoy your furlough day, even though it's unpaid you may as well enjoy the day! I can understand as my husband's company enforced unpaid furlough days this year as well.

  11. Bah! I'd follow you twice if I could, to keep that number for you 🙂 Really, don't take it personally; as others have suggested, maybe that follower switched to a different type of reader.

I hope you had a relaxing Monday after all that busyness this weekend!

  12. I hope to go see Julie & Julia next weekend. I love the Twinkle Toes shoes and I'm sure I'd want some if I was your daughter's age.

  13. I'm looking forward to going away soon! 🙂
I can't believe your kids are starting school in AUGUST. That's crazy! Oh well, good luck with everything 🙂

  14. Well it wasn't me, I'm still here! I enjoy reading your reviews and updates Ti, so keep them coming as time allows. I also loved Julie & Julia and now want her cookbook as well! If you get it, you'll have to update with how the recipes work out for you!
