Read-a-Thon: Hour 13 & Survey

Currently Reading: Guernsey, sTori Telling and my Pampered Chef catalog. Seriously.

Pages Read Since Last Update: 52

Total Pages Thus Far: 356

What I’m Eating/Drinking: I had a little chicken salad on a roll for a snack and a Fresca! Reading makes me hungry!

Activities: Took a short walk around the block. It’s way hot so I came back quickly.

Random Tidbits: Thank you Cheerleaders!! You guys are the best. I am counting down the minutes until the kids go to bed (3 more hours) . My house is an absolute disaster but I will be able to read in quiet once they are down. I am going to hold off on cleaning any of it until tomorrow.

Ti’s Comfy Factor (5 being Comfy): 2 My eyes are starting to bug me. Where are my eye drops?

SURVEY

1. What are you reading right now?

A multitude of items. Books and catalogs even.

2. How many books have you read so far?

One!

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?

Shadow of the Wind or Cemetery Dance.

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?

I tried but it didn’t work out.

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

Tons of interruptions. I take a break to take care of what needs to be done and then get back to reading.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

It would be wonderful if everyone disabled their word verifications for comments. I am also a tad overwhelmed with challenges even though I know they are all optional. Maybe shorter / easier challenges??

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?

I would try not to post updates as often because as soon as I am on the computer, I am checking email, blogs, etc. Takes away from my reading time.

9. Are you getting tired yet?

My eyes are getting a bit tired.

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?

Lots of breaks help.

  1. ITA re: the challenges. The only ones I've done are the two Q&As b/c they're quick and easy! I think the other challenges would take an entire hour to complete… and then when would I read?!?!

    Happy Second Half! 🙂

  2. I agree that some of the challenges are a bit long or hard. I skipped those. I’ve been pretty good at not checking email or other tweets other than #readathon and such. I’ve had tons of interruptions too.

  3. I’m sure it would be nice if we cheerleaders could drop you all off some nice caffeine or treats of some sort? 🙂 Well, since I can’t do that, I’ll just drop by to say hi! Looks like you’re doing great so far.

  4. Sounds like you’re doing well so far. I’m still trying to balance the mini-challenges and the reading and commenting on other blogs. I’m not really succeeding at any of those. LOL

  5. It looks like you’re having a busy day of reading Ti! Sorry that I wasn’t here earlier to cheer you on. I was busy all day and away from the computer. I hope that you are enjoying all the reading time!

  6. Can’t wait to hear what you think of sTORI TELLING! You’re more than half way there — keep it up! You’re doing great!

  7. Amen to the turning off word verification. I’ve mostly been cheerleading and my eyes are going buggy from it.

Glad you’ve been able to get so much done despite the distractions. Enjoy the rest of the R-a-T

  8. oh, you are doing great! Keep up all the hard work, you are a champ! 🙂

Glad you liked the vlog 🙂 Yes, that chickie is very needy.

  9. I agree with the challenges and comments. But I love the comments and some of the challenges have been fun/added a much needed break!

  10. Sounds like you’re doing well! I wish I’d gotten eye drops, my eyes just couldn’t hold out and I ended up with a migraine. Eye drops may have prevented that!
