Read-a-Thon 2009 – I’m Off The Fence!

For weeks I have been on the fence about the upcoming 24-hour Read-a-Thon. I’ve got kids, a husband that bores easily and a ton of stuff to do this weekend but I am going to give it a shot! For those that haven’t a clue about what I am talking about click here.

Since I decided to join this so late in the game, I don’t have time to put together a vlog like some of the other bloggers but here’s my list. I’m sure I will add stuff to it as I go along because I have no idea what to expect of my attention span and comfort levels until the day of the event.

The Spare Room by Helen Garner
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
Love and Biology at the Center of the Universe by Jennie Shortridge
The Red Leather Diary by Lily Koppel
sTori Telling by Tori Spelling
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Safon
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene

I hope everyone has a blast. If you are still on the fence about joining then jump off (like I did) Click here to sign up!

  1. Hi Ti! I’m going to be cheerleading, so here’s a little Rah Rah Rah in advance! One tip I have heard for readers is to choose some short books.. yours look lengthy. Maybe throw in a quick YA title for variety-something you can finish during the RaT for a nice sense of completion. Have fun!

  2. That is so cool! I wish I could participate, but I’ll be at a band festival tomorrow. I hope to participate next time.

Good luck with your reading! You have a lot of fun looking books on your list.

  3. Glad to see you are participating, too! This is my first one and I have A.D.D. so I am a little nervous! But I have been making a pile of different kinds of books to help hold my attention. Have fun with it! 🙂

  4. Yeah for you! You have some great looking titles–Shanghai Girls? Lucky you. I wish I had that one sitting here waiting for me.

  6. Good luck with this, I so wish I could join in. I’m away for the weekend, but I do hope you juggle things around to get the most out of it all! And have fun!

  7. Good Luck Ti! I’ll cheer you on!
You have a nice list of books with some variety that should help keep you going.

  8. Good luck tomorrow! I’m not offically anything – family duties call – but hope to check in during the day.

  9. Yay!! This is my first one as a reader, I’m so excited! I’m not sure how it’ll work with those children, but I’ll figure it out as I go.

  10. Good luck Ti! I will be heading out of town this weekend so I won’t be able to join…but know that I’m cheering for you!
    Go Ti

  11. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I’m so glad you’re going to be reading too! You have a great list of books. I’m going by pages read, not books but I have to get some books read anyway for reviews. I see you have The Red Leather Diary too. Good luck Ti!

  12. That’s a great list!!! The Shadows of the Wind is one of my all-time favorite books. Good luck and have FUN!

  13. Good luck and have fun! I decided to sign up this morning. I mentioned it to my daughter last night, and we thought it would be fun to participate together. I’ll be pulling out some books this evening, but I’m thinking <>Guernsey<> will be on my list, too.
