Sheri over at A Novel Menagerie is the host of this weekly meme which is all about the movies you’ve seen over the past week. Thanks for hosting Sheri!
With two kids at home and a stack of reading that is currently a mile high, I don’t get to watch (or go to) too many movies but sometimes I manage to squeeze one in. This weekend we rented Hancock. It stars Jason Bateman, Will Smith and Charlize Theron. The premise is actually sort of interesting. Hancock has special powers and tries to do good things but he has an image problem and that is where Jason Bateman comes in. Jason plays Ray, an image consultant and Ray works with Hancock to make him more popular with the general public. Charlize plays Angel, Ray’s wife. She’s too damn beautiful for words so I was often distracted by her “perfectness.”
The movie started off really slow and I almost took it out of the DVD player but my husband said to give it a few more minutes and so I gave in. It ended up being a pretty decent movie in the end. However, the version we got was not PG-13 but unrated. It had some bad language which the youngin’s probably could have done without. My 5 year old did not like the shooting scenes. She said that they would give her nightmares so I read a book to her during that part.
On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being best, I give it 3 Hoots.
I really enjoyed this movie, but we had the pg-13 version. It does start off slow at the beginning, but I think its a great new angle to superhero movies.
I took the twins to see this movie. We liked it. I heard that there will be a sequel!
I really liked this movie…. I heard that there will be a sequel. The twins saw it with me. Anything Wil Smith is usually great.
I am sorry for such a late reply, but I was saving your review for when I had a little more time to sit down and give it my full attention. I liked this movie, although was a little disappointed in it. I’m not really sure why. Still, I did like it, as I said.
