Down Time

Today is President’s Day and although my work is not closed.. I took the day off to be with the kids since the schools are closed. My son went to work with my husband..he likes to help out sometimes. My daughter stayed home with me and we went shopping.

I LOVE having a shopping day with my daughter but she is going to break me once she gets to be a Tween. Right now she is only 4 and she has this incredible sense of style. The way she mixes and matches, the way she layers short over long… hard to believe a 4 year old could put outfits together like that on her own. Of course when I buy for her, I must also think of my son so we buy stuff for him too.

Since I work full time, it’s not often that we get a chance to hang out like this. Definitely worth it and I wish I could do it more often. Right now she is sorting through her purchases and I am about to sit down with a new book! I just finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower and I must say..it was quite a rewarding read. It is actually classified as “juvenile” fiction but it reminded me a lot of Catcher In The Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird. My next book is a book that was sent to me by someone at Harper Collins. I signed up for an online book club event at Everyday I Write the Book and we are reading The Post-Birthday World. I thoroughly enjoy cracking open a new book. The expectation of what will follow is always exciting.

Oh.. my little one is calling me with a “I love you”. How cute is that!

Till tomorrow,

Ti
