Review: Holidays On Ice

For the longest time I tried to get an ARC of Holidays On Ice by David Sedaris. I then asked for it for Christmas but with Christmas approaching quickly, I finally just decided to treat myself and buy it and I am so glad I did.

Holidays On Ice is basically a collection of stories about, well…the holidays. Let me tell you, even though my decorations were up before Thanksgiving, it just hasn’t felt Christmas-y to me. I needed a pick-me-up and this book was it.

I laughed out loud in many places. I was going to wait until after the holidays to post about it but with just a few days left to shop, this would be a great stocking stuffer. I love the cover too. This will be one of those books I pull out every year to re-read and display.

So in the spirit of the season…go out and buy it!

Fall Into Reading 2008

UPDATE: This was my first challenge and I failed miserably! I only read two books on my list and I probably read only 4-6 books that were not on the list. There were quite a few books that came in for review shortly after I made this list and I felt obligated to drop what I was doing to get those reviews out.

My TBR shelf is frowning at me as I hang my head in shame.

What do they say? Better late than never? I’ve been reading everyone’s Fall Into Reading 2008 lists and you’ve all inspired me to give this challenge a try.

This is my first challenge. I know my list isn’t nearly as long as some of yours but hopefully it will keep me on track. I’m needing a little more structure these days. I’m sure there will be some review copies tossed my way between now and the end of this challenge but these are the ones that I want to read FOR SURE.

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski
The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
The Secret River by Kate Grenville
Wife in the North by Judith O’Reilly
The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai
Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched The World by Vicki Myron
Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
In The Woods by Tana French (started this one but I need motivation to finish it)

So there you have it.
