What am I celebrating? First, it’s a long weekend and I have no commitments. Second, my birthday is on Tuesday so I am celebrating another year by stretching this weekend out as much as possible. Last night we went to a great restaurant for prime rib and then followed it up with Footloose the Musical. I always buy a book for my birthday but I am not sure what to buy this year.
Right Now:
I’m thinking that breakfast is needed. Preferably, breakfast that I do not have to cook. Eggs Benedict sounds really good. I know this one place that puts it on top of fresh tomatoes for me and then tops it with avocado.
This Week:
I am taking my actual birthday off but I decided to serve my daughter’s volleyball team lunch that day so I will be heading down to the high school for that and then will return later to watch the game.
I have book club this week. I suppose I should read the book. It’s my book too, Lincoln in the Bardo.
Reading:
I just finished A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena. Let me tell you, it was quite the challenge because my eBook was corrupted!! Every other sentence was gibberish. Amazingly, I don’t think I missed any key points but it was a review copy so I didn’t want to give up on it as long as the story was making sense.
In addition to my book club pick (Lincoln in the Bardo) I am beginning my #RIPXII reading. I may start with Bird Box by Josh Malerman.
Watching:
Oh man. Guess what starts on my birthday? American Horror Story!! I know exactly what I will be doing that night. It comes on late but I am going to try to stay up to watch it.
Making:
I made this awesome Baked Chicken Caesar dish that could not have been any easier. All you do is place boneless chicken breasts in a baking dish, top with a good quality creamy Caesar dressing, bake it at 400 for about 20 minutes. Top with shredded Parmesan and then bake for another 15 minutes. It turned out so good and so tender. I served it with boiled red potatoes and roasted green beans.
I am also making ham steaks, scalloped potatoes and peas. I am still on the lookout for a great casserole cookbook so if you know of one that is not heavy on gluten, let me know.
Grateful for:
I had a health scare a few weeks back but I got the results on Friday and I am good. SO grateful for those results and that the doctor stayed there to read them to me. A long holiday weekend of worry would not have been good.
Everything you wrote about sounds wonderful…especially the last one! Enjoy your week!
Except, the air went out and no one can come out until Wednesday. It is over 94 degrees in the house and I am miserable. It leaked through the ceiling too. Dog is not feeling well. The weekend is not good. I feel like crying.
It definitely sounds like many reasons to celebrate to me! Lincoln in the Bardo is SO good; enjoy reading it! It should also make for an interesting book club discussion.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday and enjoy your day off as much as possible!
Enjoy your (extra) long weekend and your birthday! My book club was supposed to read Lincoln in the Bardo but a couple people started it and didn’t like it so they voted to skip it. I’m pretty much over my book club.
I hope your birthday is a good one!
Happy early Birthday, Ti. Mine is not too far off either. I’m not really feeling in the spirit this year. Maybe it’s because I feel so OLD. Or because I had to cancel my vacation day I’d set aside so I could have a day to myself to celebrate as is my tradition . . . I am glad your health scare turned out all right in the end! That must have been a relief.
I hope you have a great week and an especially wonderful birthday, Ti.
Early wishes for a happy birthday… enjoy the long weekend!!
Happy early birthday, and I’m so glad to hear that your results came back good. Now you can focus on awesome, happy things! ❤
Glad you got good medical results; waiting can be so stressful! Happy early Birthday. Taking the day off to do something for your daughter sounds like a great way to celebrate.
Hope you had a great birthday!
Oh my, hope your air gets fixed quick!
The air is still not fixed and there have been two visits made! I am seriously dying over here. Well, not at the moment because I am at work but my poor dog. Fans all around but so stuffy.
I’m glad everything is ok. I hope you had a great birthday. That chicken dish sounds so good right now…but that could be because I’m dying for lunch.
There were a couple of times over my birthday weekend where I seriously felt like crying. We still do not have air. Saturday was the worst. 105 degrees in my bedroom with the entire house opened up. No breeze and fires in the distance meant smoke and just plain yuckiness. I was in such a bad mood.
Happy birthday! Anyway. Despite the smoke. And no breeze. So glad your tests came out well! And that you enjoyed Lincoln in the Bardo.
Thank you. When I got sent for more testing I started to panic a little.
Still without AC and now wild animals continue to tear up our newly planted yard. It’s rather frustrating.
PS. Happy Belated Birthday! Everyone cool has their birthday in September! (wink wink). Hope your celebrations last a good while.
Oh yes, us cool kids always celebrate September.
My bday weekend would have been stellar had my AC not died.
