The Sunday Salon: Feeling A Little Off and a Little Bit Dreamy

Sunday Salon

This past week was pretty much like any other week, except I’ve been feeling a little off. I think my body is telling me to get back into the swing of things as far as exercise goes. Since the hand injury, the routine that I worked so hard to establish went right out the window. I was okay for a really long time, but this past week I’ve been feeling pretty lousy. I think the lack of movement is why so this week I am going to start adding activity back into my morning routine. It will kill me at first because I really do not have ANY extra energy but it has to be done.

On a happier note, the #winditup2013 read-along is in full swing and I couldn’t be happier. Reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is an experience in and of itself, but reading the book with others makes it even more special. We’ve been having a good time discussing the book. Little tidbits here and there, a Tweet, a FB post and emails going back and forth. This week we begin book two!

Reading the book has put me in a very relaxed, dreamy mood. I like it. I like feeling as if the only thing that exists is the book in front of me. I haven’t felt like this in a really long time and it’s made me want to re-read the Murakami books I’ve already read.

Plus…

Have you heard all the fuss about Murakami’s new book? I didn’t even know he had a new book in the works so when it released in Japan last week, I couldn’t help thinking that #winditup2013 hit at the perfect time. All the bookish buzz over his new one makes reading Wind-Up even more exciting, If you want to read about his new book, check out this article. No word on how long it will take for the English translation to come out, but it took over two years for 1Q84 to hit US shelves. I hope we don’t have to wait that long this time.

Other than that, I woke up really late today and what did I do? I shampooed the carpet, My wiring is seriously off. What are you doing today?

  1. Hope this is a better week for you Ti! I hear you on the activity, I stopped also due to health issues and feel the difference. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the Wind Up Bird!

  2. Hope you feel better with maybe better weather soon. I am slowly coming out of the winter hibernation I’ve been in and getting more active!

  3. “…except I’ve been feeling a little off.” Personally, I think reading Murakami makes us feel like we’re a lot off. I read Book 2 yesterday at a local coffee shop and I still feel somewhat in a dream-like trance today. Of course, now I’m going to take a nap so I’m sure that will help ;).

  4. Loved your dreamy post…den is watching the masters andi am reading…windows are open, girls are napping, it’s a lovely day!

  5. Surely shampooing the carpet counts as exercise. Good luck with getting back into the swing of things.

  6. I have had a tough week too. Our van stopped working. They finally got it fixed but then it stopped on my husband when he went to pick it up. Lucky it stop close to the shop. We have been without a car for a week. I haven’t went walking with my son and dog for a week because we both got some kind of virus. It is raining so we can’t go walking. So I know how you feel when you feel out of wack. I haven’t able to read any thing of late. I read Stay Close by Harlan Coben. It was a very good read.

    • I know how car stuff can mess you up too. Found a small oil leak in my car but to get to it, everything has to come out. I could buy so many things with $700.

I hope you have a better week!

  7. Well as you know I had a seriously off week. But tomorrow is a new day. I’m off to Andre, and he will make sure he takes care of me. I so miss running, and so does my butt. So anyway, yes, Haruki. Unless you count his memoir, this is my first Haruki. I have Kafka on my Kindle and I’m earmarking it for this summer’s Poland trip. I am hoping to make a little headway tonight on Bird. So glad I agreed to do this, despite the fact that I’ve been hacking away at it for three weeks.

  8. Feel better soon. Shampooing the carpet sounds pretty ambitious. I’d never have energy for that!

  9. I hope you get your mojo back soon, Ti! Exercise always helps me! Have a great week!

  10. Well, whatever you do, don’t decide to go sit at the bottom of a well and think!

    • When the kids are AT me, sitting at the bottom of the well sounds pretty good. I just have to make sure that May is not around to steal my ladder.

  11. I hope you get yourself sorted out, it’s always strange to feel “off” and not know why. Have a great week!

  12. I am out of the swing of exercise as well, and have a really bad injury that is awaiting surgery. I know what you mean about not having the energy to get started. I can’t help but think that this never would have happened had I been exercising.

I also didn’t know that there was a new Murakami coming out! I bet you are very excited, though 2 years is a long time to wait. I hope that this one comes out sooner!

  13. Sunday here was spent doing laundry and catching up on some reading, though that didn’t translate into a blog post for today yet. I’m still working on it.

  14. It really does almost feel like you timed the readalong to coincide with the new book release!

  15. Hopefully you’ve found your groove again as the week’s progressed, Ti. We had a really busy weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. Mouse started soccer and we spent a lot of time outside doing yard work. I am hoping this coming weekend is a little more relaxed. I need at least one day to unwind.

    • I saw the gardening pics on FB. Our yard is made up of plants that require little or no maintenance because I kill everything! My week is going along okay but I am wiped out. I need a good night’s sleep. Still feel as if I am coming off of vacation which is not the case. Does Mouse like soccer so far? My daughter was a natural at it but she didn’t like it much. Ti

  16. Somehow I missed this post.

I didn’t realize you took a pause from the gym all this time. If I go two days without I get the shakes.. ha!

It sounds like people are really enjoying the readalong but it might be a good decision for me that I passed (after reading Lisa’s post). I’m loving the posts though.

  17. I’m sorry you’re feeling so out of it…I do understand the lack of energy thing though! I have yet to start the book but I will this weekend!! My husband had the last week off and when that happens I never really get to just do my reading thing!! :)
